You are exactly right on the point about Apple! On the flipside, competition has spawned ANDROID, which realized the crappiness of Apple's practices. Now, they are constantly competing to out-do eachother, while the consumer gets more for less $.
As much as I would like to give love to my PC gamer friends, there is just not as big of a market for PC gaming demand as there is for consoles. We all know that PC-versons of console games are way better in most respects, but the kids are not playing OC games as much as they are consoles.
Look, MS thinks they have a service that is priced at an amount that they can cover their expenses-on while making a profit. Making a profit is the reason why business exists. If it was overpriced, we would all abandon MS for the simple reason that there are FREE alternatives out there.
I've got all three systems and the other two (PS3/WiiU) have dust on them. Exploitation? Forcing children to work in sweatshops in Bangkok for peanuts in order to sell Martha Stewart sweatshirts is exploitation. Forcing girls into sex slavery in Malaysia is exploitation.
Giving kids the ability to pay for a video game online service is not exploitation. As an American, it is sad sometimes to realize how we think as a society.
