This is the first year I never really bothered to watch e3. I guess because I only play the same 2 games on my PC(tf2, quake) but when I heard about the new console I had to log back into gamespot and check out the forums :P

it has been sooo long since I kept up with gaming news, I am out of the loop with everything

Yeah, just watch any gameplay videos and you should see a huge difference.

I don't care that much really... I still play quakeworld/live(picmip), css, tf2(on low settings, dx8 ) and most modern games on low settings. I do plan on getting a budget card eventually, but quakeworld is just as easy on the eyes as any other game for me.

Graphics are not what make the PC my prefered gaming platform

I think it just looks awful, to be honest. I just don't see the hype for this and cod. You have all these unique titles and you would rather have a generic fps. :s But, if that is what you enjoy... whatever, I just don't see it.

It would probably look alot better on the 360 or the PS3...oh, well>MathMattS

However, I think this argument is pretty stupid. while it would look better on the 360/ps3 than the wii, it would look even better on PC.... but I don't see this ever brought up here, do I? :/

TF2, while a casual game, can be hardcore if you go for lobbies or join a team. check out tf2lobby.com, if you want to get into some matches

TF2 is far from casual IMO

I disagree... it's both. Go into a random pub and 90% of the players are terrible, with a couple that are decent. And tend to be very campy with many engineers which becomes a spam fest. I find this to be less of a problem with arena but it can still be a little annoying, mostly with 18+ players.

Get a lobby or team together though and it can take a lot of skill, and teamwork. Not TOO much teamwork with lobbies/pugs though, but it helps. It's becoms more like a limited pub with higher skilled players

Quake Live is a great "hardcore"(though I don't really agree with the use here) game and it's free.

edit: btw, COD is also casual

Ehe, I haven't bothered with the brackets at all... actually, if it wasn't for you guys I wouldn't know about it. I have the Wii board and OT both in my "most visited" so I usually skip directly to them without paying any attention to the rest of GS

T-Minus 10 minutes until Michigan V. Notre Dame...

I love football season

Because I'm such a nerd I find competitive gaming more interesting to watch than sports. I love watching the best Japanese players do Blazblue matches. They're insane and I can learn combos and the like from them. I also watch starcraft matches even though I don't play the game because they're really interesting. I could care less about shooter replays because its just twitch reflexes most of the time.

Yeah, same here. I've been watching a ton of starcraft in particular lately. I have to get up at like 5am multiple times a week, to watch the gsl :[

I also like competetive tf2, sf3:3rd strike(occasionally) and quake, but sc is my favorite to watch. You should try watching quake and tf2 games, they are pretty interesting to watch if you know a lot about the games. They are a lot about positioning, timing(quake), and teamwork.

In quake, timing the megahealth(35 seconds), and the armor/s(20?) while collecting weapons and out aiming your opponent is very difficult. Even the movement is difficult to master
