@sippio: They showed the first trailer for this game in January 2013. This game was in development for over 7 years. It was designed for the XB1/PS4 and originally scheduled to release in April.

CDPR claimed that working from home introduced challenges that caused them to postpone the launch, and then go back on their word and institute mandatory "crunch time" for developers in May and June. But that's really all irrelevant. This game didn't release with relatively minor problems. It was virtually unplayable on the two consoles it was designed for. If anything, COVID gave CDPR a "reason" to push back the launch and improve it.

Given how bad they are now, just how bad were the XB1 and PS4 versions of this game back in April?

@joalopes: You're really going to give them credit for how they treat their customers? CDPR lied to their customers about the state of this game for years!! This game has been in development for over seven years. They showed off the first trailer in January 2013, before the original XB1 and PS4 released! They didn't "want" to release on the XB1/PS4, they had to because the game has been designed for those consoles since day one!

To top off how CDPR mistreated their customers, they didn't allow reviewers access to the PS4/XB1 versions prior to launch. Every single pre-launch review of this game is based on the PC version. They knew how bad the XB1 and PS4 versions are and didn't want bad reviews to cause a waive of cancellations prior to launch.

If a company like EA and Ubisoft had done something like this gamers would be near uniformly calling for the company to be driven out of business.

@Jimminyfixit: Absolutely! It also boggles my mind how many gamers in these comment threads say "they shouldn't have even released it for last gen."

@sleepnsurf: Other than the fact development for this game started seven years ago, you'd have a point. CDPR showed off the first trailer for this game in January 2013. The original XB1 and PS4 released in November 2013. This game was *designed* for "last gen" consoles entirely! Their claim that they spent "too much time" on the next generation versions is a complete lie. At best, they knew the specs for the Series X and PS5 in mid to late 2018.

It boggles my mind that some gamers just can't admit that CDPR released one of the worst messes in video game history.

@Slannmage: They started development of the console versions of this game seven years ago. Just how long does CDPR need to develop a game? Their claim they spent "too much time" on the next generation versions doesn't make any sense. They couldn't have gotten information from Microsoft and Sony on specs for the Series X and PS5 prior to mid/late 2018.

@GalvatronType_R: CDPR started development on this game for the PS4 and XBox 1 seven years ago. They didn't rush anything out for financial benefit. They released one of the most bug ridden messes in video game history. Then they've proceeded to lie about it even more than they did over the past seven years. The claim they spent too much time on the next generation version? That's hilarious. At best, they received information on specs on the Series X and PS5 in mid/late 2018.

Hope they lose everything. CDPR clearly lied about the course of the development of this game for the past seven years and have told more half baked lies since its release. The claim they spent too much time on the next generation version? That's absolutely hilarious. Dev kits for the Series X and PS5 didn't exist until mid to late 2018.

@m4a5: As someone else commented a couple days ago about Apple’s removal of the app that allowed Stadia to work, Apple’s objections are just mystifying and, frankly, anti-consumer. They don’t have a platform that competes with XBox, PS5, Stadia and the forthcoming Luna. There aren’t even any rumors about Apple developing their own gaming platform that might debut in 2021-22. This is just Apple choosing to impede other companies and consumers in an area that it can’t, or won’t, compete in.

I have to wonder if they're doing this because for some reason they're concerned that they're not generating enough interest and sales on PC. I wish they were doing something where you could at least enter to win a free copy on XBox or PS4.

(No, I'm not being a console fanboy, I recently got back into PC gaming now that I have a laptop capable of playing most games.)

Don't care which city does this, but it needs to happen somewhere.
