I have duped items on more than one occasion in an RPG. I also use gameshark to make 99 of all of my items in virtually every pokemon game that I have played.
I'm not sure if it has already been mentioned, but the thing I cannot stand the most is the price tag on this generation. It is unreal at how expensive some of these video game systems and video game accessories are. A wii controller is like 60 bucks (with both parts, 40 for just the wii mote), and a wireless 360 controller is 50 bucks. xbox 360 games are 60 bucks brand new and the list goes on.
I guess that my real problem is that I started gaming in the last generation (the generation that includes Gamecube, ps2 and xbox), and things were expensive back then for those systems but with the release of the wii, ps3, and 360, the prices have been shreded for the generation that I started gaming in.
So, I guess the only real generation that I dislike is whatever is current because it is so expensive (for example during gamecube generation, I opted to play many n64 games instead). One day though, you will be able to find wii games for 10 bucks, just like you can find quite a few gamecube games. (I just bought Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 for 4 dollars, it was 50 brand new.) I'm a frugal person though so that is what leads to my cheapness.
Also, games really aren't that bad in terms of inflation (gas and food have sky rocketed in the last 5 years), whereas, games are rather consistent. But in reality, would I rather spend my 50 hard earned bucks, on ONE wii game, TEN VC(nes) games, or FIVE used gamecube games at 9 bucks a pop. I certainly don't like option 1.
Ogre Battle isn't an RPG to begin with, so that solves that.

Ogre Battle 64 is a real time strategy role playing game.
As for the original question, I would not rank this at the very top of the RPG list, but I can certainly agree to put it in the top 10. Atlas did a terrible job at making enough copies of this game, so that everyone could actually play it. I think Ogre battle 64 may be one of the most underplayed, great games out there. It certainly has aspects of it that makes it unique.
