The truth is most people on this board know more about basketball then 99% of employees working on NBA2k8 or NBALive 08. Pretty sad if you ask me considering 50% of this board has yet to even hit puberty. 2K and EA always mess up player ratings and for some reason never bother fixing them. In my opinion, there should be a roster update at least once a week not just once a month.

Roster updates shouldn't just add 2nd round picks and Free agents but actually tweak player ratings and player tendencies. See this is what I just don't understand; it takes me about an hour or so to completely redo the ratings for my favorite team. All this on a 360 controller, the developers have access to a keyboard and my guess an advanced data base system for ratings. They should be able to update the rosters in a mater of minutes. How about hiring a NBA scout to do these ratings? Now that would be a radical idea!

The question is why don't they tweak/update player ratings, or do them correctly the first time around? Here are my top 5 reasons.

1. They don't care, since they already got your bling.
2. EA/2k: "What are you talking about the ratings are perfect!!" Lets NBA!
3. They are just too damn lazy. Fat and Lazy even!!
4. They don't have the money to hire someone qualified enough. (NBA Scout)
5. The programmer is in charge of player ratings knows nothing about the NBA and just looks at stats and/or what 12yr old Billy has to say. "D-WADE! He's a 98!"

The raptors get screwed every year; Matt Bonner wasn't even in the game for 2 straight years till he was added with a roster update in 2k6. With 2k7 they finally put his actual face in the game. This year, TJ Ford gets a 90 speed rating not bad, right? WRONG not if Nash is also a 90? Oh, how about Agent-0 95, damn he is as fast as Tony Parker!!! Kidd faster then TJ with a 92? Come on... Could be worst though, Barbosa who many regard as the fastest player in the league is a pathetic 85. This is just an example of what I am talking about.

Here are some NBA2k7 ratings for the Raptors who got hit pretty bad. AP is 4th in the league in 3% and only gets a 77? Mo Pete is the best on the raps with an 85 then comes Dixon at 83 TJ with a 79, Joey next at 78 then finally Parker with a 77. Nice.

Seriously, the Suns? Mavs are gonna sweep that team. The Suns won about 5 games against the Lakers and Clip that they had no damned business winning. They can't continue to get lucky against a deeper, more talented and more experienced team in the Mavs. Sorry Phoenix it was a nice ride, but the cold harsh reality will arrive in the form of Dirk.

I'm not bitter or anything. :)

BobC

You sure about that?  They just won game 1
