UT3 is a 4 year old game? huh?
http://www.giantbomb.com/unreal-tournament-3/61-10955/

it was released last year I.E 2008.

and no its not better that game was horrible talk about ancient gameplay epic needs to learn to update things UT3 plays exactly like UT1 all most and like fools they didn't scale the difficulty for the 360 and ps3 versions of the game, they kept it PC difficult with enemies on the highest difficulty able to teleport and side dodge sniper bullets...that they shouldn't know were even flying towards them its one of the reasons i dont have half the achievements for UT3.

so no its not a better game which is why it bombed both pc, ps3 and 360 in scores, and sales.

WilliamRLBaker

I'f got all trophies for UT3 using the unique 'non-cheating' way to get it. Check my sig, don't know whats wrong with it but I know it is outdated cozz I got the UT3 platinum trophy, it's easy if your hard-core. Know what I mean? Basically an FPS all different and unique (every single one), take Borderland (fast action, free-roam and xp) and then take MW2 (fast action, great multiplayer and variouty) so there you have it we are all unique...

[QUOTE="jalexbrown"][QUOTE="farrell2k"] I have no theory. All I say is fact. Finding tricks and work-arounds, as you call them is not "untapping" power. It is simply using what is already there more efficiently. How many more times do you have to go on denying the truth? farrell2k
You're presenting this whole "no untapped potential" thing as though you're saying that the games will never get any better than they are now, will never run any better than they do now, and neither one is true. No, the developers will not magically change the hardware in the system to meet their desires, but the hardware isn't as important as what someone can do with it.

Nope. I am correct. Games on the scale of Modern Warfare 2 will not be more than 640P, and Killzone 2 and games on the scale of Uncharted 2 will never be more than 30fps/720P. Someone may put enough time into optimizing code, but you will never see any major changes. The resources just aren't there. This "untapped" power nonsense is a myth, but the foolish will believe it, I suppose. Believe as you wish. I am bored of your misplaced optimism.

Do you know how hard it is to use the power of these future generation devices, no I think you don't. Technically the Playstation3 isso expensive to develop for they have to use a different way to render things.

The hardware in these consoles is like 5 years old. The games look average by today's standards. You already live with most of your games running with framerate and AA problems, and most are not even 720P. How much better do you think things are actually going to get? You can only squeeze so much out of this basic hardware. Console users are dreaming if they think somehow someone is going to magically "untap" hidden amounts of power from these things.

Ther only thing you're going to see that really untapped on these little things is motion control add-ons. They can't give you much more, so now they're going to give you a new way to play.

farrell2k

Are you even a programmer yourself??? "I KNOW" I am and there really is untapped potential in the Playstation3 and Xbox360 consoles, its just expensive to develop a highly super powered next, next generation game.

[QUOTE="Unknown_prince"]

Actually I'm am investing in an $3000 PC, with an Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition running at 3.30GHz and 16GB RAM DD3 and the latest 5600 NVIDIA graphics card with 1.4GB video memory. I'm getting this in a few months and giving my decent PC to someone else.

_Pedro_

 What kind of graphics engines are you going to you build?!

Off-topic: Landed a PlaystationPortable contract with Sony but not a Xbox360 dev contract with Microsoft yet.

On-topic: It's a game engine for the Xbox360, maybe version 2.0 will be compatible with Natal.

You see the problem is that everything I own or buy, I buy in cash and I do not own a credit card and also I live in South Africa so I don't think Microsoft ever released cards there like the Playstation3's PSN cards valued at R250 and R500 which is $25 and $50.

I like the way you think of investing more than you want to invest on an Xbox360. I have heard about the ring of death. I was wondering does the user always use the console correctly; the Playstation3 must at least be 30cm away from a wall, etc.
