I originally purchased one of the old 80GB models, but within a month the optical drive stopped reading any form of media, so I was forced to return it to Best Buy, only to find out that the 80GB models were no longer available.
So I had to downgrade to a 40GB model (without the PS2 backward compatibility, much to my chagrin), which is fine, but for the fact that 40GB of HD space simply isn't sufficient with the size of various game installs, downloadable addons, and downloadable games...so I put a Seagate 320GB hard drive in, and I haven't looked back since. I've still got approximately 50GB of free space, which is more HD than I had to begin with.
