[QUOTE="cloud31blunt"]

PS. I am not a vegetable living in a mental home. Though I might not know what makes a good game since IMO the greatest game ever made is Xenogears. It scored lower than GeoW and I like it more than GeoW, so I don't have a clue about what makes a good game, right? And I think Tekken 2 is better than Tekken 3. So maybe your theory is correct...

The_Great_Samu

YES! Xenogears was the best game ever made.. however, that doesn't qualify in this application, as that is a PSone game. Too bad the same couldn't be said for the "Xenosaga" dilineation.

I'll tell you of a collection of overated abberations released for the PS2 generation .. every GTA game ever made. Senseless violence and a mobster centered storyline can only go so far before your brain will melt into nothing. Something that's rather typical for the male-centered, "Spike-TV" fueled american audience to get worked up over. yes, yes.. flame on children..

Is the HDTV catered specifically towards the ps3?fluffypirate

No, there is no HDTV catered specifically for the PS3, but you can certainly find many that are compatible with all of the PS3's display resolutions.
Can the ps3 be hooked up to a normal tv?fluffypirate

Yes, with a significant decrease in image quality.

If so, what's the difference between an HDTV and a normal one?fluffypirate

The higher the number, the higher the resolution, obviously. The number 1080 means 1,080 lines of vertical display resolution. The more vertical lines of display resolution, the more crisp and fine the image quality will appear.
Also,I read some posts about certain resolutions like 720p/1080p being 'native' to different games which depend on the preference of the developers when the game was created. Does this mean that some games will be better performed on 720?fluffypirate
Not exactly. The highest resolution will always be preffered and automatically set to the maximum allowed resolution when starting a game.
In addition, Do all tv's support resolutions that go up to 1080p? Or do I have to buy a special tv that supports 1080pfluffypirate
No, not all HDTVs support 1080P, though most of the newer ones should. You should be careful when selecting an HDTV, because some will not support 720P, but may support 1080i(interlaced instead of progressive scanned lines).. and likewise some may support 720p and 1080p but not 1080i .. most games have multiple resolution outputs, while some only work on one, and you will be forced to downgrade to 480p.
Last question (stay with me plz!), what are the cables used for? To connect the ps3 to the tv? What exactly are these cables? fluffypirate
Not all HDTVs support HDMI, but of course the newer ones should. A quality HDMI cable is pricey, but is well worth the money considering the superior image quality it delivers. Next in line is the Red Blue and Green component cables, which is not nearly as superb(as well as pricey), but delivers HDTV resolutions.. this doesn't come with the PS3 as it does with the Xbox360, so right off your going to have to make a choice in what cables you wish to use if you want to enjoy gaming in high definition.

Indeed..  the graphics don't look THAT much better than Halo 2.  In my opinion, Halo was never really a creative game from the begginning.  A half baked plot about killing the aliens.  Very typical actually.

About the Wii ..  the only reason it's popular is: 1. The low price(which is also relative to it's lack of hardware). 2. For all the non-serious and retarded gamers who can only get into a game by moving their bodies with the controller(I think back to my idiot friends who would try to jump with the controller when playing Mario Bros 3.)

Xbox360 and Wii may own the market for a little while, but on the long run, PS3 will dominate.  Look at the PS2 for instance..  the damn thing is still selling.  After seeing incredible lineup that's due for the Ps3 in 2008, it's obvious which console will be the most sought after.  Don't believe the propaganda..

This is what I would do.  Sell the poor sucker the overpriced grill for $600 dollars.  Wipe the idea of an Elite XBOX 360 system from your memory and buy a premium system from one of those liquidation stores on ebay(I've seen deals ranging from $300-$200 dollars).  Save up a measley 100-200 bucks and you'll have enough to buy the core PS3 system too.

So what if you don't have all the "extras", who really needs em'?  You just want to play the games right?  Well then, better to have all of the options at your disposal rather than limit yourself to one system with some extra bells and whistles.  It's all a marketing gimmick to make the buyer feel like they have the "better" system, when really the value of the added hardware doesn't add up to the extra money you spend.

It feels good having options..
