KILLZONE 2 was on of the few games that mad me instantly buy a ps3 since i watched e3 of...damn, i cnt remember, but it was the E3 where they first showed gameplay footage of LBP and heavenly sword and trailers of mgs4 and ofcourse killzone 2 actual trailer. i literally bought a ps3 a few days later.
now, watching the 12 video previews of killzone 2 has delusioned me of the hype of this game. yes i know its a preview code. but even so, this game has been in dev for far too long and problems like these shouldve been caught on early in the beta days.
what problems you say?
heres are the few things im going to point out basing on the videos on gamersyde.com
i've only watched the welcome parts of the video so i will update more of the problems i see that maybe alot of lyou have not seen, or realized.
1) first thing i realized was how annoying the background was. it was like a million jets keep flying by the battlefield. you always hear "ZHUUMMMMM" in the background and it REALLY REALLY GOT ANNOYING. it kills the atmosphere. i mean wants every few minute is fine but every 2 secs? (yes i counted).
2) DID NO one realize at the part where your about to blow up the bridge realize how the same bazooka or idk flare cannon or w/e was firing at the same place over and over? it would be fine if the explosions were varied but it wasnt, same spot fired, and same explosion. WTH. a lil realism would suffice.
3) the akward movements the NPC'S have. the problem when you try to make the game have animated movements is that it doesnt apply very well when you dont implement it right. look at uncharted. NEARLY PERFECT ANIMATIONS. and now look at killzone 2 ANIMATIONS. fluent but akward. at times the game just drags your team mates or npc to the wall and halfway through the animations finally kick in.
4) FINDING BALANCE IN TEXTURES. alright, WHO EVER WATCHED THE WELCOME VIDEOS. please go look at this part of the video and tell me im not lying when i say this game is scrambling for textures in an open environment. go look back at part 1 and you can see when the player goes up to grab the bazooka your team mate struggles for texture when the player is a tad far from him and right when the player goes close to the team mate all his body armour textures are rebumped into perfection. fix this please.
5) dumb AI. you know what it is guys. maybe it was on easy, fine, BUT FIX THE DArn team mate AI. in one part your team mate comes face to face to and enemy and he just shoots a whole load after blocking the player from entering the room and finishing of the baddie himself.. what happened to the awesome team mate AI we saw in the CG trailer? what happened to team mate CC? doest mean it was on easy means your team mate has to be a moving stone.
6) CONSTANT CLICHE LINES FROM NPC'S. at one point you hear different sentences with the same word used."GOOD SHOT" only in 4 different ways of saying it. stop that. once a while is fine, but everytime the player shoots an enemy 40 feet away continously? no. just no. talking is fine, it brings realism, but i dont remember team mates being cheerleaders in a real war.
thats all im gonna say for now. i will update later.
this game looks great and it looks to play like, well, a shooter. but all my complaints are just things dev shouldve taken note especially before even releasing the preview code since its been in devf for a long time.
