I do hope you're joking about "falling in love". Pawns in this game have NO personality... even NPC's keep telling you how Pawns are "less than human".
If you want a second game, create a second user-profile on your system. For example, my wife and I each have our own PS3 user profile, and on each we have our own game.
Weapons have 4 levels... Base, 1-star, 2-star, and 3-star. To get the upgraded 1-star model, you visit an arms dealer and pay to have it enhanced. To get the 2-star or 3-star versions, you pay even more money, plus need to supply material(s) for the upgrade.
It's pretty simple, but the nice thing is you can skip straight to the 3-star version without having to purchase the intermediate upgrades as long as you have the 3-star material(s).
My wife and I have been using each other's pawns. Here's what we've discovered...
(1) To update your pawn for people to use, you need to rest at an inn. Otherwise people will continue to use the old copy.
(2) Once you've rested, you wake up and it tells you how many people have used your pawn, gives you items that have been gifted to you, and shows any ratings you've received.
(3) If you are using someone else's pawn, they won't update, even if the other person rested (uploaded a new copy) unless you release and rehire them in the rift (i.e. download the updated copy). If you plan on using the same pawn time and again, make them a favorite so they're easy to find each time.
Hope this helps.
This game, despite all the bells and whistles, is OLD SCHOOL. Wonder into the wrong area before you're strong enough? DEAD. Attempt a quest before you're ready? DEAD. Didn't grind enough levels by wondering aimlessly at night killing everything in your path? DEAD.
The one word of advice I can give is GET RID OF ROOK. His equipment doesn't get any better, and there are other player-created pawns that are much more adept.
