Half-Life did very little for the FPS genere. I think you're confusing this game with Counter-Strike, the most popular, most groundbreaking FPS ever created. Half-Life was the single-player boring game that was modified to be a decent shooter.
Why don't you stop defending poor game development practices and rushed deadlines to appease investor circle jerks. We are gamers, and as such, we DEMAND a higher quality product from the developer. If you want to play a 3D game go outside. For God's sake, what are games becoming? Alternate reality? I worry about the future of our children, not the games.
nVidia is blowing ATI out of the water, with this new card, ATI has failed for the last time. ATI video cards have poor driver support and lots of problems outside the box. If they don't shape up their product support, they're going to go bankrupt, and nVidia is going to remain the champ.
