I hope EA starts releasing their future games on Steam,so I can stop boycotting them, there are a few interesting ones.I won't install Origin on my PC,but I do find Steam somewhat acceptable, and would start buying some of their games again...
While I dislike Steam too, since it's also a third-party DRM app in your games,it's more acceptable than Origin. Also,I don't want to have my PC filled with too many of these crappy clients.Steam is more than enough...
Looking forward to more info,I expect great things, since I loved both Witcher games.
Also,my biggest hope is that the game will be PC orriented, with PC being the lead development platform.CDP should never forget it was the PC audience who made them into a well-known and respectable developer, and we won't accept a watered-down console port, that's for sure...
I hope they stay true to their promise, and really iron out all the Metro 2033 flaws. It's a great game, but there were some problems that would ruin immersion, like stiff animations, and bad optimization of the PC version(there still isn't a single GPU that can come even close to playing the game on stable high FPS with all settings maxed on modern day resolutions like 1920x1080)...
Game pricing need to be brought under control too.Since current developing costs are huge, that means all "AAA" games cost $60,no matter the amount of content they offer.Next Gen should change that, and give us better pricing,if you put a $60 price tag on a 5-6 hour long game with no replay value,it will flop at sales, with huge used sales and piracy rate...
I agree with that, also,I would like for Next Gen consoles to not be too powerful,so that development costs would stabilize. We need to see a rise in middle tier development, which is gone now due to huge development costs and fees. You're either a huge corporation like EA,or an indie developer. That's wrong,we need more competition and innovation in the industry...
If next Gen consoles give us a huge jump in power, that would ultimately end very bad for the consumer, since only big name developers like EA,Activision, etc, would remain in the industry, constantly playing it safe with no risks and new ideas, while imposing restricitve DRM measures on their games. We need one Gen to stabilize the industry and development costs, gaming is stagnating, but aged and weak console hardware is just a part of the reason why is that happening...
Yeah,I'm sure the game ended up being very profitable when you have to fire 200 employees
The most sad thing here is,these ppl they're firing are just developers and such, who do all the hard work, and they shouldn't be paying the price for bad decisions made by higher-ups.Firing the suits who actually decided to make this uneeded MMO with overly large budget would've been much more fair. But that's not going to happen :(
Things would've been better if they simply made a true and good SP sequel to the KoTOR series.MMO market is already oversaturated with WoW clones, and most MMOs,especially subscription based ones, are doomed to quick failure, causing huge financial problems for the developers, exactly what we're seeing here...
