Well considering you're killing off the god's that are in control of these things. Basically the gods are what hold all these things together and without them, those things will go haywire. It has nothing to do with the bible.
Well, the only advice i can give you to not get lost is: Think about the level as an inverted "U", just drop from the bridge area and go forward... guide yourself with the giant torches, they indicate the way, once you reach the opposite site... move right and then once you cross the debris go back and keep straight, guide yourself with the torches again, there is also a lot of debris in the way and you should pass a mosquito area, a slug area and then reach the Giant trolls. then just go to the village part.
