@R4gn4r0k: Just for the record, it's possible you might disagree with this reviewer, if you like that for example. This game isn't really up my alley, but I wish them well.
@Shunten: I love DNF personally, really fun inventive FPS campaign, good multi too. Hey, PCGamer liked it, it's "Mostly Positive" on steam reviews, etc. Always bet on Duke.
@bfa1509: You can't skimp on the main plot missions. Saying the story missions themselves often have bad or broken gameplay is not a minor technicality. Plus even if you love JC2, unfortunately it's possible you may find yourself not digging JC3.
@bbq_R0ADK1LL GTA5 has incredibly well done story missions, and is filled with well thought out stuff. To me a sandbox like this with such a lack of thought and effort apparently put into story missions does not appeal to me at all. Plus I didn't like JC2. Always hoping for more quality games in this subgenre though.
This sounds like much lower than an 8 review. Cons: "weak story missions", etc. It's so odd how the review scale is pretty much 8 and up, or a dud. There's no middle ground anywhere on a big title.
The words of the review make it sound more like a 6. Above average at best.
This review actually has somewhat dissuaded me from playing it. Repetitive campaign missions that have "broken" gameplay at times? "8"
@TAracer When a lot of the gameplay involves watching conversations in first person or having people talk directly to you in first person, the story is part of the experience. I agree it's less important than gameplay in this shooter here, but it's valid to care about it. And personally, I don't even go by reviews, he has his preferences, you have yours, it's all good.
And have you never played Mass Effect, Max Payne, Half-Life, FF7, MGS, etc? Game stories can be great.
@Liquid_Snake2 Liquid Snake wore sunglasses once in MGS, and guess what, they were prescription. Liquid Snake is the original four eyes. On the battlefield, it's okay to wear corrective lenses... on the battlefield
