Okay; to make a long story short, I bought a laptop (A Toshiba Satellite P500-ST5801, to be precise), and it looked like it was a pretty good buy, with a graphics card that according to some website or another was good enough to play Crysis on medium at least (I use Crysis as my benchmark for games with good graphics). I was informed a couple weeks later that the specific brand I bought had been discontinued, and it hadn't been taken off the website yet. So they're shipping me a different brand of Satellite. They told me that the new one was exactly the same, only it had one or two options that were better. Now, I looked on the Toshiba site, and the two new brands of P500 I see don't look so good. The cheaper of the two has an ATI Radeon 4100 card in it, which was the one in the last one I bought; the other has an NVIDIA G230M. According to the reviews I've read, the 4100 is a middle-range graphics card and the G230M is worse, yet the band with the G230M lists it has having "Advanced/Discreet Graphics" and the one with the 4100 does not.
Rambling over now. Which graphics card is actually better?
