For me achievements often give me an idea of what I can do in a game that I haven't already tried, climbing to the top of the tower in Crackdown for example.

De Blob has achievements of a sort.

The downside of achievements is people who think have 25k gamerpoints makes them the god of gaming.

For the Wii to have a decent achievement system though you'd need to get rid of Friends codes and have individually assigned Miss - like 360 avatars. Then maybe then we'd start to get a better online Wii comunity.

I think they tend to be slightly harsher against the Wii than the PS360 but I take that into account and generally use Metacritic as my guide for games scores. If possible I also read the best scored and worst scored reviews as well to get a good idea of the differences of opinion the game is bringing out in people.

The save game system is awful so I've never completed it. The first and possibly last Zelda game I have ever played.

Ain't that sad.

[QUOTE="FPS1337"]There trying to make the Wii better atleast. Look at grinder thats revolutionary giving the full package. It has Single player, splitscreen co-op, online co-op, Wii motion plus, wii speak, achievements and online multiplayer (supposed to be like conduit style online)Litchie

None of those things can make a bad game good. If they brag about something like The Conduit, I don't see a very bright future for anything HVS comes up with. I agree that single-player and co-op both on and offline and whatnot sounds awesome, but man... The Conduit.. It would've been better off on the N64.

What a load of rubbish the N64 could not have done what the Conduit does graphically or in gameplay style. The only thing lacking is a decent story in the game.

I own Hunter the Reckoning and the Conduit and like both games.

I agree the scenery in the Conduit could be better, they'd be better making a stylised FPS like Red Steel than trying to make a realistic one like say CoD though. The Wii is better when not having to do real world graphics.

With a couple of additions to the staff and some less linear gameplay they could actually make a really good sequal to the Conduit, however, time will tell.

If I am correct in my understanding of the old style light guns they work like this:

Old TV has a cathode ray tube, this effectively emits a steam of particles that hits the screen and is then turned into a coloured pixel. That stream then scans across and down giving you the old resolution of a TV.

The light gun game makes the screen flash and the gun attempts to capture the location of the beam at the point of the screen it is pointed at.

-----

The Wii-mote sensor bar has two IR emitors that give out signals. The wii-mote receives these signals and calculates the point of the screen it is pointing at based on the delay in receiving each of the IR signals and the motion sensor in the wii-mote itself.

----

Very different technologies.

They've alread talked about adding vehicles to a sequal which would be cool.

Take the game of world would be better to you can design anythign you want then.

Introduce a third enemy or even fourth enemy.

In fact I have loads of ideas that I might just send to HVS.

Phil

Oh and yes the game could have been a lot better.

None of the gun shells currently available actually interface with the Wii-mote. The trigger, therefore, acts mechanically against the trigger on the Wii-mote - Thus the Wii-mote always sits on the barrel section of the gun.

Second point - the IR receiver on the tip of the Wii-mote tells it where it is points. The sensor bar emites two IR signals and the wii-mote uses those signals to work out where it is pointing. So again the Wii-mote has to be on the barrell.
