I'd only like to plug in a 4K monitor jus to see how horrible the FPS would be in-game lol, even my brand new PC which i'm going to build tomorow would probably strugle to get 10 FPS with 4K display.
I'll be sticking to my old 1680 x 1050 Resolutiob BenQ monitor, it's enuf pixels for me and it's less demanding for my PC.
4K on PCs won't become the norm for another good 4 years and 4K on consol gaming will become the norm once Playstation 5 and Xbox (two,720 whatever they'll name it) comes out in the far future, everyone who's worried over upgrading to 4K should relax since it's not gonna become popular in the main-stream market for quite a while.
@jimdove2 It was rather dissapointed when i heared that in an artical but full 1080p gaming is not such a big deal if you're standing fairly away from your TV, which most people do when gaming on consols. It's kinda hard to noticed the diffrence between 720p and 1080p from a distance.
Before you go all "durr consol fanboy" , i'm a PC gamer, idon't even own a consol anymore
Also only INSANE people buy 4K TVs and Monitors for gaming, almost nothing support it yet and it's overpriced, you'd have to be an idiot to buy a 4K monitor atm. 4K won't become the norm untill the prices drop alot and that's still a good 3 or 4 years away since it's such new tech
"By the time the PlayStation 2 launched in early 2000, console graphics had far surpassed anything available on the humble PC, much to the chagrin of dedicated PC players." After reading just that part, i could not take this artical serious anymore. This guy does not know what the hell he's talking about, PCs dominated gaming in the late 90's and early 2000's, PC gaming started becoming less popular around 2006 when x360 and ps3 showed up.
Does this guy even play video games ? he obviously doesn't know the history of gaming at all.
Frame rate matters more, lower the graphics to get better performance.
This is why i play on my PC, not because of crazy resolutions or better graphics but because of better frame rate, i just can't stand playing games with 30 fps, specialy lower. I'll turn off a ton of graphical effects to get a steady 60 FPS. Devs should imo focuse on always trying to deliver the most smooth possible gameplay and not try to get the best texture qualety or shading by making the FPS more crap
