The Stand. By far. I just finished it perhaps 2, maybe 3 weeks ago. I've been on a Stephen King kick lately. It's been awesome. I'm on book 4 of the Dark tower right now.

The Stand is seriously one of the best books I've ever read. I read the 1100 page extended edition, as well. I've never read the smaller edition, but I suggest the longer one. Once you start, you wont be able to put it down.

I'm from Canada, so I know less about your government than my own, but I'd have to say there probably would be. Secrets would be kept from him, of course. On the odd chance that the President of the United States of America was kidnapped, we would not him to talk. So, therefore, some important things probably don't get told to him.
