It wont, period. 

Look at the facts:

 - PS3 has been out 1 year less than 360 (so technically it is selling faster)

 - Because it came out a year later it was lacking many game 360 had (this gave ps3 a bad image)

 - PS3 cost $200 more than 360

 - PS3 bombed the E3 before it was release (rrrriiiggggeee raaacceeer!. giant crabs, rumble last get tech, ect)

 - PS3 didn't update the controller design.

PS3, EVEN WITH ALL THESE DISADVANTAGES WOOPED THE 360! AS OF RIGHT NOW THE PS3 IS OUTSELLING THE 360!  (its probably outselling the 360 by a lot more than we are told because of the RROD causing people to have to buy the 360 more than once)

Microsoft is probably shitting their pants now that the PS4 is about to release at the same time as xbone.

Look at the facts for next gen:

- both console release at the same time

- PS4 has more games in development

- PS4 is cheaper than xbone

- new dualshock 4 controller is getting a great reception

- more powerful hardware than xbone

- Microsoft Bombed E3 so bad that probably lost half their userbase (i've never seen worse backlash towards a company in my life)

Even will all of the disadvantages the PS3 had it still outsold the 360! Microsoft is in trouble this round. EVERYTHING is in sony's favor next gen; from the hearts of true gamers to the media and press.

Your PS3 should be fine. I have the original phat, and I've left that thing running for days without problems. The longest I left it on was about a month, and i have no problems with it.

GFWL is the biigest POS ever.

GFWL only gives you 15 activations per game. Microsoft doesnt tell you this up from but that is the truth. Let me give you an example of what i mean. If I were to buy GTAIV from steam it slready has securom which is a form of DRM. Im fine with securom because for GTAIV it allows you to install it on an unlimited amount of computers. The problem is that GTAIV requires you to use GFWL to play the game. This means that you can only install GTAIV 15 time max and that is with logging in with the same GFWL account every time. So once you install any GFWL game 15 time you dont have any activations left anf cant play thr game. There is no option to revoke you activations either when uninstalling the game unlike there is with securom that has activation limits. Thats the main reason I dont buy GFWL games. Google it if you dont belive me

Wow, i cant belive some of you think the US just went in there to create a democracy and to stablize a country which could have been a potential threat. This is all BS. PEOPLE! look into the long-term! CHINA, has anyone heard of the place? I assume you have. They are the largest growing economy in the world and will evenually become a super power. And who does this threaten? THE US!!

Iraq supplies china with the majority of its oil, and if the US has control of the oil they can use it against china by cutting off oil supply. So when china becomes big and powerwrfull and starts posing a threat to the US, the US can just use embargos and not supply anymore oil.

This is why the US in Iraq, and why the war will never be won, because it wasnt supposed to be one in the first place. It was meant for long-term occupation and control of Iraqi oil.

Man, im not saying sony didnt copy nintendos idea, they infact did. All i am trying to get across is that the tech behind sonys controller existed even before the wii. Sony used all their previous tech and put it together to make a wii like motion controller
