This is not a 360 bashing thread, i used to own a 360, i always recommend the 360 to people over the PS3. ( i am a pc gamer)
I would love to know what exactly Halo 3 will bring to the world of FPS. I look around at other games close to release or just released. Games like Crysis, Bioshock and UT3 and i see real progression. Progression in graphics and most importantly Gameplay. I see fully destructable environments, Amazing A.I, intense online action, the list goes on.
When it comes to Halo 3 however i see, well, ordinary graphics for starters. I mean some games instantly make you jaw drop open, Crysis and UT3 have a habit of doing that. When i recently looked at some Halo 3 screenshots i had to check i had clicked the correct link, i was amazed at just how ordinary the game looks. Almost last gen, kind of halo 1 & 2 in high resolution.
I have also read a few previews, it seems Halo 3 is not really pushing the FPS genre into new territory in gameplay either, rather like "more of the same". Surely for a game to get so much hype and to be regarded as a true great in this day and age it must offer something new. Now i understand it has to like the others, its a sequel afterall.I just feel we have moved on from the old Halo games. Times have changed and i think its so sad such a dated franchise recieves so much attention. Halo was never a great game anyway, not to people who played all the other FPS games out there. Well, ok, i'll admit the online part was good.
I really hope 360 owners buy the orange box and play a little half life and i really hope you get a good Crysis port at some point too. Seems a shame you really think Halo 3 is the best the FPS genre has to offer.
