It doesn't hurt that so much of the gameplay is emergent (False Tower, Firewall, Chain-Collapsing, etc). Whenever you start to feel like a veteran, someone comes along to destroy everything you've built as a lesson in humility. Anything you don't deserve to own you lose. Immediately.
