Yea, I was thinking the same thing. I always hear of employers looking at Facebook and such... yet I pretty much blocked the entire public from seeing any information at all. So how is it possible?

Because Facebook says they can. Most likely it is somewhere in the middle of their terms and conditions, but rarely anyone reads them. Of course this is assuming that they actually can, which I doubt, unless you set everything to public.
