"Later in his blog post, Darling compared consoles to dinosaurs, saying these systems are "heading for extinction as their natural habitat begins to change." He called consoles "ancient beasts" and praised the work of Facebook, Steam, and Apple's App store as places where innovative properties can thrive."

This comment alone--that these buttholes who have 'Angry Birds' and 'Angry Birds: Space' on their phone who call themselves "hardcore gamers" will be dictating the quality, quantity and availablility of the next generation of games--put into practice, is metaphorically the equivelant of pissing on your child and saying you've given it a shower. Playstation Store and Xbox Live: if we pretend these were strictly digital, that's it. You'll have no choice other than paying the one set price, can't shop around for a bargain. People that trade in or buy used games are fucked. If--and I'm sure it's more of a "when"--they make it so you also can't play the games unless the system is always connected, that's me out. My PS3 bails on the internet connection all the time. And if it's another one of these methods of always having to be connected to their server(Even in single player mode), have fun with your digital-only game when you can't play it because their servers are taken down for whatever reason they deem necessary; something no fault of your own. And even then, imagine the quality of these two map, three guns, no fun DLC's that are passing for quality expansions worth the £10 you pay for it, they'll now be charging you £50 for a standard game(Condensed in most aspects to fit within an easy download size), the DLC will naturally foillow; being smaller--because we'll have accepted less as the standard--charged the same as they do now, if not more, and pumped out much more frequently. I know there's a lot of benefits of digital distribution--albiet I can't say that's the case with 90% of the companies I can think of--and it deffinitly has--and is still going to--open a lot of doors, but we really shouldn't be slamming the one's we walked through before--or seal them with cement as this guy intends--because if people like this asshole **** it up and the room sets ablaze, well...either jump out the 50th floor window or die in the hole. I'm all for the advancement of the industry, but these hippies with their iPhone's taking center stage before falling in love with whatever next trends of Facebook and Twitter piss me off. A lot of things have their moment of absolute popularity. Just like all of these little parasites people are unleashing into this world(Your children), are dry humping 'Twilight' posters and now vampires are in every fucking show on TV: it kills the idea of vampires, people take it too far, it looses meaning because too many people who don't actually care force themselves into the meaning by a really loose connection so they're in with what's "cool"..."trendy"..."hip", and in doing so, they make the definition of the subject too vast, too stretched to fit into everyone's fucked up avanues, it's left without a core, it's just a prop now. Example, one of my friends only has a PS2, four games, hasn't had any interest in anything true and essential to gaming since I've known her, and she tried to convince me that she is a hardcore gamer. No offence, but **** her. She is not a gamer, she is a telemarketer, a future alcoholic, and one of my best friends...

And as other people have said. Paying an extra £10-£20 so these people can "bless" me with the "convinience" of not having any physical access to a product I've purchased? This guy needs to shut the **** up and be thankful the gaming industry is all about the money(It's a business, I understand), but the compassion does not come, he could've gotten this job without even knowing what a Game Boy Color is. This is a seperate subject now, but just to finish it off: the actual gamers have to buy the compassion--whatever they make, because they know you'll love it, of course you will...because they made it..."for the fans". **** you, and the smart screen, interspecies, handi-capable iPhone you flew in on...
