Islam is just as peaceful as Christianity. People are quick to cherrypick the bad passages from the Quran but bad passages from the Bible can just as quickly be found.
Army to protect your freedoms from outsiders...all the while your government takes them from you anyhow. 9/11 sent your boys over to Afghanistan to prevent Al Quaeda from threatening your "freedoms" but within months came the "Patriot Act", wiretapping laws and TSA gropings at airports. If the army was for the preservation of freedoms, why haven't they marched towards Washington DC? There's an answer to that. The army isn't for some noble cause as defending the American way of life, it's a tool for the government to get its way when reason fails.
Hooray for the anti-capitalist strawman position! Seriously though, there aren't that many people who are inherently against "capitalism". Instead, the problem is seen to be capitalism in its current guise. There are problems with how capitalism functions which have been made excruciatingly clear with the global financial crisis. The protests haven't called for the destruction of capitalism but instead wish for recognition that it is broken and something needs to be changed so that the people don't suffer for the greedy mistakes of the priviliged few again.
Generational loss and lossy compression only compromise the quality of a file when it is altered and saved again. Simply using files, such as viewing a video file, does not trigger degradation.
