I think it is a pretty big blow to Sony. After all the crap Valve has said about Sony and now this..... Hopefully they do something funny at E3 to keep it light hearted.

Gabe finally comes around to the PS3 and this happens...... Valve must be pissed at this. I don't think the user should recieve anything from Sony for this huge failure for them to protect their content. Although I do feel like their PR department has dropped the ball and should be keeping us way more upto date. I HATE HACKERS!!!!!!!

So you think its okay to jail break a system and put it on youtube showing how to? WHich then allows people to get free games and content. You realize if everyone did this the market would crash.
In the midst of all the quabbles about Anonymous, I actually think theyre somewhat good. Do you not think it's a bit extensive for Sony to sue Hotz for hacking a PS3? I think it is. In computing terms, technology is all about innovation and movement, all Hotz was doing was improving on a PS3 HE bought. I think its stupid to sue a guy who was hacking his own PS3 (Which Sony still gains profits of) he had bought and it goes against the principles of technology. Its suddenly not right when someone wants to modify a product he/she bought, but its suddenly ok for a multi billion corporation to sue him over it? If Anonymous even did hack the PSN, theyre just sticking up for Hotz. Yes, it does affect the millions of PS3 user out here, but if it isnt tackled, these exploitative corporations are gonna throw their weight around and give you a product with strings attached. They obviously want the pressure to be put onto Sony, for Sony to lose wads of cash and to lose reputation, but I think its for a just cause. Either way whether you support or hate Anonymous, you're doing what they want you to do.RoboDuckii

This is one of those reasons i'm glad that I own a PC. If you guys bought Portal 2 for PS3, download your PC copy and come play with us. PS3 + PC FTW

That would be because they are not compatible. I dont think any goty edition work with saves from the earlier games.

Demons Souls, although it depends what you are counting as an adventure game.

Killzone 3 was pretty good for a multiplayer demo but once I got the full game I enjoyed it more. Now here comes Crysis 2 and the demo totally turned me off to its multiplayer. Still interested in SP but I am now canceling my preorder and will wait for it to have a price drop.

1) No weather should not have an issue with your system as long as you keep your house in the lower then 80. Just make sure the system has lots of room to breathe. Also my 60 gig fat works better vertical. 2) My thermal Paste needed to be replaced 6 months ago after having the system since launch. Due to being out of warranty I took the whole system apart cleaned all the dust out replaced the thermal paste and resaudered my motherboard at 600degrees with a heat gun. Was a $30 repair and system runs great now. 3) should not have a huge impact but games that are installed to the system may run a little easier. [QUOTE="Zero_Signal620"]

For the past week, my PS3's been getting the overheating message barely 10-20 minutes into almost anything I play. It's in an open space (and nearly 12 inches diagonally below my LCD tv) and I had it cleaned of dust back in May (which I admit I should have done more often). It's the fat 40 GB model, before anyone asks. Few questions...

1) Does weather take a huge factor into it? I have no a/c in my apt. and am practically using 3 fans to keep the place cool. But even at night when the low is around 65, I'm lucky if I get one game of CoD done online.

2) I've read that the thermal paste may need replacing. How long does it normally last before it needs to be replaced? I've had it since November 07 and already had to take it back once for DRE.

3) Does the game being played have any effect on it? Katamari Forever can be played for at least 30 minutes (never got the overheating message once with that game), and I was able to play FF13 for nearly an hour the other night, but CoD: World at War is lucky to get 10-20 minutes of gametime.

Should I replace the paste, check the vents for dust again, save up $$$ to trade in for a slim, or wait until it cools down here? Any advice is appreciated!

YLOD happens due to your system recognizing an issue that would cause it to overheat. If it flashes yellow and turns off it means the fan did not start or is not functioning properly. It can also be that your plates connected to the processor have spots where the heatsink paste has worn out. It is all related to heat. Luckily on the cheap end it should only cost you $30 to fix and the expensive end $100. Replacing the fan is about $60. Thermal Paste and a heat gun about $30. Watch some videos on you tube and its an easy fix. I repaired mine 6 months ago and it is working great! [QUOTE="Amartherion"]

Ok, my 3yro 40gb phat is showing symptom of the notorious ylod. For the past 1 month plus or so when i switches on my ps3, it will occasionally beep 2 or 3 times before red light keeps flashing.I would have to switch it off and on again before it gets kicking again, but at other times, it worked just fine. But to my horror yesterday, i saw a fast flash of yellow blink after the green lightbefore it turns blinking red againwhen i switched on my ps3. I switched it off panickly and tried to turn it on againbut luckily it runs normally without any problems. From there, i played yakuza 4 for straight 5 hrs.

Btw, after my 5 hours of gaming, i did a test again to see if my ps3 is working andit turns out fine. I want to know from u guys how long more can my ps3 last before it dies off?
