I had very high hopes for this year. :-(

Between family members dying of Covid, friends dying of brain tumor or suicide, people losing jobs because of the epidemy, unacceptably high PC hardware prices, rampaging SJWs, Biden winning, escalating video game prices, microtransactions and my personal serious illness, the last thing I need is a game I hate getting the Video Game of 2020 Award.

I hope gamers know better than this.

If TLOU2 wins game of the year, I will consider killing myself.

DOOM 1993

Won't buy a single game for that price, because I don't really like modern AAA games anyway. It's either SJW (WD: L), microtransactions (Genshin Impact), low-spec (Zelda BotW) or I don't like the setting (Fallout 4 which is also a mediocre game overall).

In the past, after 10 years, there were revolutionary new games, ideas and experiences. In 2020 we have more of the same we had in 2010, like Minecraft, WoW or League of Legends.

I expected Minecraft to become much more dynamic, not remain static. You can build anything, but it's all without life (MC AI is extremely basic). For example I built a castle which is without residents, defenders or attackers which it makes it pointless.

A giant spider or a giant dragon can be built, but they remain just blocks stuck together, nothing more. It doesn't feel like a living world at all.

Minecraft is like LEGO, but looks way worse and can be very cheap.

The potential of computer programs lies in their full interactivity instead of fixed things.

I would like to see what can be done in Minecraft with Ryzen 4990X, Radeon 6900 XT and 512 GB RAM. But what we are going to get are only minor updates to this or that. With the money Microsoft has, it's all they can do...

By the time 9th gen ends, 4K TVs will be dirt cheap, like 1080p now. Investing in 1080p (maybe 1440p) console is a bad idea for the 2020s.
