Ah, and here's the deal sealer for the 'review'.

Before being removed, there was a tag on the top-right side of the review that said, and I quote,

"Sponsored by Sony"

:x

It's worse than the "All I Want for Christmas is a PSP," viral campaign...

Well, no. The user review of a 4.7 on 1UP some time back was worse.

Some good news about the purple coins, from Neogaf

[QUOTE="JSnake"]I'm really loving the purple coin challenges. It's not like in SM64 or Sunshine where you just randomly roamed the worlds looking for stray coins or stomping every enemy in sight. Instead, you just travel the same path you originally took and collect the coins along the way. The levels are so elegantly designed and coin placement is so smart that instead these challenges feel more like excuses to revisit old worlds and take the same paths and less like random collect-a-thons.Iga_Bobovic

Ah, good.

I remember the nightmare that was the blue coin challenge over in Super Mario Sunshine. If I remember correctly I only needed about couple dozen more coins to collect to get the last few shines, but for the life of me, I could never find find them. I actually looked through every level for several days, but alas, my file stands as a testament to my shame at 112 shines. It's almost as bad as Banjo-Tooie. My OCD stillweeps.

I mean at least in Mario 64 the red coin challenges were restricted to their level only, so you know that you got them all there.

*sigh* Sorry about the rant, I needed to get that off my chest.

So they're more like the 100 coin stars than the red/blue coin challenges? Awesome.

Yep, definitely getting it next week. (19th Birthday. Yosh!)

Wow, this thread went downhill kinda fast. Did half of System Wars follow me here?

Well whatever, Galaxy is a great game, regardless of what a few nay-sayers say otherwise.

[QUOTE="Casiotech"]I guess the mods aren't agreeing with you on this one.JordanElek

Actually, I do agree that some of your statements have been ridiculous. All major review sites only rate games based on corporate sponsorships? Professional reviewers have no special talent at writing reviews? Mario Galaxy is not a real game? These statements completely discredit your opinion.

But having an illegitimate opinion is not necessarly trolling. I've left it mostly alone because I like to see people actually getting into a discussion. It's dangerous for you to come into a thread like this and start hating on the game in question, though. Just keep it civil (it's had its ups and downs so far).

I do somewhat agree with you about reviewers using the average length of a game to determine its "real" length. A game like GTA or Elder Scrolls has a certain average length to complete the primary storyline; but if a gamer so chooses, he can stretch that length almost as much as he wants. Not all games are like that, though. I think it's a positive thing for a game to have optional gameplay that increases its value to some people. So while Galaxy may take under 15 hours to beat, you can play for another 20 hours if you so choose and still be playing original content. That's much different from beating a 15-hour game with no extra content twice. You can't fault a developer for providing extra content outside what's required. If you don't like the game much, it'll be shorter; but if you love the game, it'll be longer with the extra stuff you can do. It makes sense.

I thank you. The argument (and quote tree) was getting out of hand there. So has anyone talked about the 11/10 that ONM Italy gave to Galaxy? I found it pretty funny (in a good way).

Looking good so far. I'm glad were getting some online options for this game and the motorbikes seem interesting, I wonder how they'll handle?

Now if only they could tighten up the visuals/take better screenshots. Those really don't do the game justice.

Yosh!

*dances a little*

Good to see that all is right in the world. Too bad Jeff didn't review it. :P

I can't wait to get the game myself! Not even System Wars can ruin my day now!

[QUOTE="Eoan"]

on a somewhat separate note, those qoutes upon quotes are getting ridculously long.

And i'd say Mario is good but not one of the kind of games I'll be taking off school for. And i do that when i just can't be bother getting out of bed.

Casiotech

Dude, it's 12 hours, all you need it to take off ONE day from school.

What it gains in quality it lacks in content.

Actually, as someone else has said, that is the bare minimum to beat the game with only 60 stars (the easy ones, I hear some of the latter ones are really hard) and with rushing. I think a more reasonable estimate is more along 25-30 hours for full completion of the game (and that's not including "hard mode") Seriously, just enjoy the game at your own pace.

For me, I'm-a explorin' space.

Yeah, I know how that feels. I've been through System Wars and back and it isn't pretty at all.

Anyway, I'm glad to know that gamers of your age can see beyond the shock effects of most of today's games and judge games by how fun they are rather than by their production value. Blood and explosions are fine in a game, but if the cool factor is the only thing gamers base a game on, then they are playing games for the wrong reason.

Mario was my first gaming experience with Super Mario World and, although I have grown to love the RTS's and FPS's of the PC realm, he and Nintendo will always be favorites of mine. His games have always been, to me, the pure essence of gaming fun and only Nintendo has been able to capture it perfectly. And although as a franchise, Mario has starred in over a hundred-odd games, he always seems to be fresh with each iteration, with very few exceptions.

I am 18 going 19 and I am a proud Nintendo/PC gamer.

I salute you, good sir!

Heh, guess it's time for me to cash in on the celebrations, too. Woo-hoo!

Glad to see that Mario Galaxy got the scores that it deserves and that any logical doubt about it was silenced soon afterwards. I will definitely pick this game up sometime later this month. I can't wait!

(Nice to see your thread free again Willy!)

[QUOTE="bionicle_lover"]i hated the demo (well just disliked) so im not getting it. and i'd still rather not have it than a horrible port. as long as the ds one is good (though i dont have a ds :(MrConvoy

Jesus Christ. People, err sheep, are actually considering purchasing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on Nintendo DS? It's like buying a plastic case full of crap.

Dunno, what's the verdict on that version of the game? Either way, I'm getting it on the PC. (Cause all other versions are crap comparatively ;))

Slightly off topic: I'm willing to at least give MoH:2 a rental to see if EA was able to do something neat with the series. Hey, it could happen...

[QUOTE="Koopaknight29"][QUOTE="darklord888"][QUOTE="flintgijoe"]

The review will probably have bad grammer.darklord888

Like your post? ;)

Well to be technical; he had bad spelling, not bad grammar. :P

Grammar is spelling...

Huh, is that so?

I was always under the impression that the two were separate or at the most casually interchangeable.

Bah, you win this time.
