I don't think they get paid for reviews but I do think they feed of hype and big hits. On a more subtle and unintentional level mega game sites can't live without mega publishers.

[QUOTE="Krelian-co"]

[QUOTE="dreman999"] Again, it looks like space majic because your seeing the ending out of context.

texasgoldrush

i saw the ending by myself when finished the game, terrible, as almost everyone agrees, too bad biodrones are trying to make excuses for the weak ending

Game informer disagrees, so does many game reviewers.

Pointing out review scores to make point only makes for a fool.

[QUOTE="Kiyobear"][QUOTE="pppjjj"] QFT but you know it will.Kickinurass

I'm not sure what your QFT is for. Almost all games have RPG elements these days but that doesn't make them RPG's. RPG, despite it's literal meaning, still denotes a style of game-play. This is not an RPG regardless of it's quality. Pejorative phrases won't change that.

Define RPG then. It's honestly a very vague genre that's evolved and meshes well with alot of other genres.

I'll agree not every game with RPG elements is an RPG. But by the same token, I don't think a game should be disqualified from being an RPG because of comparisons to older RPGs. Not saying you're making that argument, but it's frequently thrown around on SW.

I couldn't agree more about the difficulty in defining it. Rather then give some sort of dictionary like definition I can only say what's important to me. It mainly revolves around characters creation which is not a process that stops as the game starts; nor something that is solely defined by the decisions or actions you take (role playing). Equipment customization that evolves as your character grows; a wide selection of abilities; those two things are vital. I see ME severely lacking in both after the first game. It most certainly contains elements of those two criteria but they are thinly veiled over the core of a cover shooter. I'm not disputing quality or Game of the Year merits (though I am severely dissapointed). I am suggesting that even if it's your favorite game of all time it doesn't belong in the RPG genre. That may be the reason some enjoy it. As a huge fan of both shooters and RPG's it may be strange I find the cross breeding to hurt RPG's so much. I was hoping ME would be a lot more tactical, too.

No but PC gaming will become more and more expensive in the future no doubt. And consoles will be the primary place to play games, just like today but even more so.

And while PC games do look better than the console versions, they don't look "miles" better like Hermits say they do, they over blow the graphics on here too much. So I think most console people will be fine with their games.

ShadowMoses900
In the near future niether console or PC gaming will resemble what is now. If the rumors of this "Steam Box" hold any water things could get interesting sooner rather then later. I doubt they are, though. Or at least, early leaks are misleading. I already think todays consoles are more PC like when compared to old consoles. If anything closed platforms like consoles we have now are what is on the way out.

I'm a little ashamed to admit it-- I'm over 21 so it's legal-- but I would not have made it through Amnesia without beer. So I guess this game will give me a nasty hang over.

This is SW, its almost every thread where a faction/console thinks they are above the other.

Jankarcop
I guess I don't pay attention usually. I come here to gauge what younger gamers talk about and usually stick to reading more game centric threads; rather then platform. Regardless, have fun gaming out there.

[QUOTE="Kiyobear"]I see a lot of fervent PC gamers on a board like this as being either really young or noobs. After generation after generation of games evolving it's amusing to see people falling over visuals. Especially since PC games have become so consolized. I remember a long time ago, over a decade ago, when I thought I was cool for discovering the joy of a PC versus a console. I acted like an idiot, too. Now? Meh, I play more classic games then new games anyway. Someone acting superior is born of an inferiority complex: see many PC gamers for details.Jankarcop

Every faction in SW does this, why do you only single out PC?

The sub forum is called SW, we will gloat about having more games, we will gloat about having better gfx/performance, we will gloat about having the best version of most multiplats.

I don't see you going into all of the consolite threads (most threads) and posting this.

Take a look at how often I post. I'm not singling out PC gamers and you're correct. The thread was about PC gamers so I was responding to this thread. I just didn't notice the threads you're talking about or wasn't compelled to post. Also, fron what I read PC gamers are far more obnoxious because yeah, technically PC's are superior. And I mean the tech and the tech alone. Tech doesn't make a game good, though. It only defines what it's capable of.

Yes, because saying PC gaming is superior is the same as someone acting superior.

They're not the same thing, but that doesn't mean it's not happening.

Gaming is far too subjective. The act of gaming is to bring us joy. I enjoy unforgiving games. I feel bad for people who dismiss any one platform. Last year I had Dark Souls and The Witcher 2. Two amazing games. For the record? Dark Souls was my favorite. This old PC gamer won't deny himself that joy based off superfluous criteria. Of course it's not just games, is it? Most people only think skin deep.
