Even if you are right that the PS3 has "caught up to the 360" this is merely hardware wise to take advantage of the blu-ray player, and is still far away in software. I own a PS3, and was counting on it atleast contending, but now this situation is dismal.
Well actually I'm in the same situation, and I decided to buy a laptop off of newegg.com. I found one for 1200$ that had good reviews, stating that it was a pretty cheap graphic powerhouse and it even can run Crysis at a decent fps on medium settings. Haven't bought it yet, but I plan on it later when I get closer to college in August. Of course this is all dependent on how much money a person gets for graduation, because plenty of my friends didn't get that much.
