[QUOTE="SymonDezyn"] Clearly you misunderstood my statement even though it was quite sensible. I will spell it out for you again.
SE is a company.
Companies need to make money.
Both 360 and PS3 are popular in NA and Europe.
PS3 sells better in Japan. 360 is not popular.
= why not make their most anticipated game multi-platform in English where it will sell, and on PS3 only in Japan where it is logical to do so? HM? Makes sense!

I understood your statement just fine, you said SE would do anything to get the game to everyone, period. So that was either a terrible job at being sarcastic, or you dont know what period means.
FF has been on one console until they went to a MMO. SE has never needed to go multiplatform to have success on their offline FF games, and they never will. So are you going to sit here and tell me that SE is getting a massive sales boost by going to both systems outside of Japan? Give me a break, if bet you cant even find 1 fan in this entire union that wouldnt have eventually bought a PS3 to play FFXIII. All SE gains from going to 360 is having a few extra casual fans picking up the game, but somehow you think its going to give FFXIII a huge sales boost.
And once again, if SE is trying so hard to get this game to everyone, why isnt the game coming out for PC, you could argue that market is much larger than the 360 market.
Hell for all we know MS threw a bunch of money to get FFXIII on their system. I mean you really think that PR bullsh*t they feed you at E3 is the real reason why this all happened? Because the fact is this game coming to 360 goes far and beyond getting the game out to more fans, but you fail to realize the big picture.
It is true that many people would have definately shelled out the cash for a PS3 to get FFXIII, much in the same way people bought a PSP for Crisis Core. But just as well, it's common knowledge that many people who held out on buying a PS3 likely bought a 360 already because it's cheaper, so having XIII on 360 saves them an extra 400 bucks.
I think it's very tricky to tell if whether or not XIII on 360 will cause a massive boost in sales. I mean, if you go to vgchartz.com and search every JRPG released on 360, none of them reached the 1 million mark (their sales numbers are all based off of official sales reports). This even includes Mistwalker's games, made by the "father of Final Fantasy." But at the same time, you could easily argue that none of those RPGs had the SE logo or the Final Fantasy title (in regard to an offline, single player experience), which carry ALOT of strength/selling power in them.
Even if MS paid them a whopping amount of cash, I'm sure SE knows what they are doing by doing this. "X" million of dollars of free money from MS, plus porting a game to a console with a large install base = lots of immediate income and potential for even more money than they would have originally made, and new people to turn into huge FF fans (lol, the only thing they can clearly mention at a conference). And that's something they need after lackluster sales last year in the US, combined with expensive costs of development. And who knows, there could even be a PC release of XIII too. It wouldnt be the first time an offline Final Fantasy game went to the PC (I'm sure this site still has a review of FFVII for PC here).
It could also blow up in their face, or the amount MS paid wont equal the amount of revenue SE generates in 360 sales...Only time will tell.
