Yeah, and notice how it clearly states, "we may see an even higher percentage due to prolonged use"? In other words, they calculated the 16% failure rate after X amount of time. But in a year or more, the failure rate could potentially be as high as 100%.

It's been pretty clear that Gamespot is not a trust-worthy site since the Zelda review. Since then, many Nintendo and Sony games have been largely underrated compared to other sites -- Ratchet and Clank comes to mind. It should have been obvious to everyone that Gamespot is rating games based on advertiser funds. Namely -- Edios trying to buy a better review, or Microsoft trying to buy their way into the market by skewing their competitors' reviews to the lower-end of the spectrum.

When Greg and many of the Gamespot staff left all within the past year, it should have been clear to everybody that there are underhand dealings going on with Gamespot. There is one KNOWN company that exercises illegal business tactics and leverage their other monopolies in hopes of capturing more markets: That company is Microsoft. This is supported by the bad reviews and Nintendo and Sony software has obtained recently. Microsoft is spending massive amounts of money to buy developer and press support. And once more people buy Microsoft-bribed products, Microsoft will have more capital to buy more exclusive titles, and in a couple generations, everyone will be tied to Microsoft because Microsoft will have all the exclusive titles. Once consumers are tied to Microsoft, expect more RROD. Expect poorer hardware. Expect worse customer service. If you think Microsoft would pay for all the shipping and repair cost once they have a monopoly, then you are naive. Once Microsoft has a monopoly, they will cut back massively on Research and Development, and there will be no innovation in the market place because Microsoft is not putting money into R&D, and there would be no competition. If you are a consumer, you should NOT be supporting Microsoft and any companies associated with Microsoft.

As great as Bioware once were, they have not been their former glory for many years. Perhaps it was the loss of key personnels, Neverwinter Nights disappointed many fans, myself included, and Jade Empire never realized what was promised. There is a few reasons why his words should not be taken as fact: 1) Bioware games were never technically amazing. Baldur's Gate and KOTOR never broke any ground in terms performance or visual content. Jade Empire contained laughable martial arts animations. 2) In terms of software design, a trained eye can clearly see their engines were slower compared to games released during the same time frame. The Infinity Engine was relatively slow and contained many timing problems when compared to the Diablo II engine, for example. 3) Bioware's team is experienced in developing on standard X86 hardware. Their tools and their employees are all trained on developing for the Windows platform. In other words, Bioware was never known for their technical achievements. Bioware hires intelligent people, but sometimes not necessarily people with proper experience. And without experience in hardware design, the Leads at Bioware likely do not understand the full potential of an architecture that differs from a standard PC platform. In conclusion, his statement can be seen as an uninformed opinion; therefore, invalidates any merits to the thread starter's post.

The ps2/360 ports had actual improvement. If "teh Cell has duh powah" how can a $600 ps3 version with 3-6 monthes extra dev time actually come out worse? I forgot, it's because the CPU in the ps3 was built for video imaging instead of videogames.bluebrad1974
This exactly shows that you have no understanding of the subject. Allow me to inform you: Video and Imaging uses numerous matrix operations. The PS3 architecture excels at matrix operations. Guess what current generation consoles are bottleneck by. Graphics. Graphics use matrix operations. Xbox fans laugh at PS3 for only being able to help Folding@Home. Little do they know that it is the same reason why the PS3 is more suited for gaming than the 360 CPU.

Sony's game library is suffering due to the non-gaming CPU in the ps3.bluebrad1974
I have said it again and again. You, who have no clue about technology, should stop trying to act like you know about hardware. It seems like Microsoft technology attracts loud-mouths who don't have a brain of their own and simply recite biased and false information released by Microsoft. The PS3 CPU is not a gaming CPU? You must be referring to the general processor that is in the 360. Or did you simply read about Microsoft's BS about A.I. being what the 360 excels at? Let me try to get it through your thick skull: A.I. in games do not even account for 10% of the total processing power. Or did you really believe that the Cell doesn't have branch prediction due to your ignorance of the subject; basing your imaginary idea of how hardware works upon Microsoft's FUD? All CPUs have branch prediction, be it "assume true", or override by manual instruction. The "Microsoft Lead Developer" who said such non-sense is obviously oblivious to how hardware works. Simply look at all the hardware problems that the 360s have. Look at how unstable Windows 95, 98 and ME was. Look at the numerous security exploits on Windows IIS and IE. If you like to trust, Microsoft -- a company with a record of anti-competitive practices to destroy competition only to cut-back on R&D to produce poor products and force consumers to shoddy technology -- then you are just an uninformed individual who doesn't understand that Microsoft is detrimental to technology and the console market.

 I can see it now..Master Yoda would be like "High the confidence is with this one, to bad an idi*t he is"Pro_wrestler
Xbox fans who don't know anything about technology always resort to statements such as "link?", or "proof?" when something bad is said about their system. Pro_wrestler is a prime example of someone who has no clue about technology and has to resort to quoting Microsoft PR without any understanding himself. People who has understanding of hardware and software, and with a few years of hands-on experience, will have a good estimate on what is possible based on theoretical specs. Not everyone lacks understanding of how the systems works and require a link from an external source to provide validated facts. Lots of Xbox fans who has no clue about technology will always quote Microsoft PR statements in putting down the Cell. Little do they know that the reason why the Cell can do Folding@Home -- which cannot be accomplished on the 360 -- is the same reason why the Cell is more powerful than the General Processors in the 360. Due to a processor that is built for the type of processing required for today's gaming, the PS3 can perform a lot of calculations and techniques that are COMPLETELY NOT possible on the 360's General Processors. Perhaps it is the market that Microsoft is targeting, but it is clear that it is the Xbox fans that talk smack without any knowledge to back up the claims. Quoting incorrect and skewed information from Microsoft might make these Microsoft fans feel good about themselves, but to people who actually know about the technologies involved, these individuals just look like complete idiots that will regurgitate anything spewed from Microsoft's behind.

Thats wrong. Your digital signalmight be less susceptibleto interference but a poorly built cable might not be able to give the proper bandwidth to transmit the signal effectively.TheCrazed420
You should stop trying to pass your lack of knowledge as fact. Please. A digital signal might be susceptible to interference to the point where it would distort your image? Do you even know what a digital signal is? A digital signal is either High or Low. To have interference pull a High to a Low, or vice versa, in your living room, is impossible. It sounds to me like you are throwing out jargons in hopes of making yourself sound knowledgeable. The claim about bandwidth being limited is BS -- any cable meeting HDMI specification is compliant. Stop trying to defend the Xbox360 based on your assumption on how technology works.

Evidently, I'm more informed and less naivethan you seem to be. bluebrad1974
Don't make me laugh. YOU are more informed than I am? To anyone with a slightest clue about technology, everything you have posted is based on your regurgitation of skewed BS spewed from Microsoft's behind. You don't even understand the basic concepts of how a processor works. To people who actually knows their stuff, you come off as some sort of ignorant blue-collar worker trying to be a couch developer. Here is some advice for you: don't quit your day job and leave the technical stuff to people in the know.
