This is very clumsy PR, but it's not that far from the truth. PCs still have a lot more raw processing power, but if the games take advantages of the architecture and low-level optimizations of these consoles, the end result could be at least on par with current gaming PCs. Maybe not with really high-end PCs though, but it really depends how the game is optimized and if compute APIs are used on the PC like they are meant to be used on these consoles.

RIP Bioware, i am glad this studio existed, until DA2... I am surprised it took them so long to leave... because in my mind here is what happened: Bioware's game creation process when they worked as indie on PC games: - Have an idea - Prototype it and tweak it - If you think its fun or good, it makes it into the final game Bioware's game creation process when they worked for EA on multiplatform games: - EA: Ok do this game - Bioware: But we would like to do it this way - EA: You mean you want a feature that is not already in a game that sold tons of copies ? Meh, too risky and not enough return on investment. - Bioware: *work work work* - EA: Hey our big marketing team which gets half the budget of the game had this great idea from surveys and other analytic voodoo ! Just implement it in the game it will boost sales by X %. - Bioware: but it does not fit in our game. - EA: Well make it fit ! - Bioware: *work work work* - EA's marketing team: *counting the cash they will get from their idea and playing games ("for research data")* - Bioware: Hey EA, we have an idea too, we could do that and it would be a great game and also help your idea fit better into the game. It would take us one month - EA: Meh we can't be one month late we would miss the holiday season and we don't believe your idea will improve sales. - Bioware presents game to Microsoft for certification process. - Microsoft: What the **** is that ? This game does not fit our templates and guidelines, you can't do that on our console. - Bioware: Well it is because of the feature requested by EA, it forced us to do wierd stuff in our game, but it should boost sales by X % according to their research. - Microsoft: What ? Money you say ? Do you need help to improve it so we get even more sales ? When it is done we recommend you make a ton of DLC, they are always nice because we don't have to give money to these greedy retailers ! - Bioware: EA, we spent too much time arguing with Microsoft, we forgot to make a PC menu to change advanced graphic options. We need a little more time. - EA: Nah, they will pirate the game anyway so who cares ? I could go on a lot more but i don't want to make a too long post !

it would be an ambitious project, it would not be profitable if only released on linux though. even quake live does not have so much linux users according to john carmack, and it's free. but it might be possible to make something decent if the game is sold on all PC OS.

i rarely play it now. the number of hackers and annoying modded servers has increased a lot. the experience is not the same as it was at the release of the game. the game was not really good in the first place, now there is too much crap to deal with it's really not worth it anymore. here are the 3 kinds of people you meet most of the time on MW2: - Noobs they are blind, just run and spray or camp and don't offer any challenge. they will often whine and call you a hacker if you own them (especially campers). the "bright side" is that your team mates often suck too, so they will give ennemies killstreaks and get you killed to balance things. - Hackers (aimbot, wallhack, etc) they disable VAC and will never get kicked/banned. you will regularly have a game ruined by one or more hackers and you feel a little lucky when there are no hackers in a game. fortunately hackers usually suck at the game and rely heavily on their hacks so if you're smart you can still own them. - Server Admins (modded/dedicated servers), they are pretty rare but they are the most annoying. they usually force perks to what they like or create other crappy rules. admins will often kick you if you own them. I have never got the famous XP boost from any modded server though. here is an exemple: my last modded server experience was a search and destroy mod that activates permanent slow motion 1 minute after each round starts. i play as a quickscope sniper so i ended up head-shooting everyone really easily with slow motion and got kicked by the admin after a few rounds, a complete wast of time.

[QUOTE="Kaeladar"]i am not really a fanboy but i prefer the PC. i also own a 360 and a PS3 and i owned a wii but i really did not enjoy it at all so i gifted it to someone. i have tried to become a console gamer after being annoyed by the number of cheaters on PC online games, and being lured by a couple console exclusives and the hype, but i completely failed. no matter how hard i try, i can't get used to the low resolutions, imprecise controls and loud fans. i also generally prefer PC exclusives/mods over console exclusives.Elian2530
I love MODs. Especially the Half Life 2 texture mod. Do you hate bad PC ports?

yes, i forgot to mention that's another reason why i tried console gaming, especially games like alpha protocol where it would take them 1 hour to implement key bindings for all weapons, gadgets and skills, but they make you use the console UI menu instead.

To be able to play all games this gen you'd need

  • Nintendo Wii-199.99
  • Nintendo DSi- 169.99
  • XBOX 360- 199.99
  • PS3- 299.99
  • PC- 500.00
  • PSP-169.99
  • TOTAL=1539.95

That doesn't include such platforms as the iphone either. PLUS you have all the hidden costs (Online, controllers, etc.) Compared to the other forms of entertainment gaming is EXPENSIVE. I can buy a $30 DVD player and be able to watch EVERY movie that comes out or spend $30 a month on cable TV and still only spend $1800 in five years. I dunno i was just adding up all i've spent on gaming over the years and it easily is well over 10x what i've spent on any otherform of entertainment and i don't even buy that many games really!

you don't need all systems. and if your only home entertainment is gaming, you can live without a TV, buy a full HD monitor instead and save lots of $$$. you can still watch some DVD/bluray movies on your HD monitor with a PC or a console. then only buy games that are worth the money or that you really want, and wait for price drops if they are single player games. i got civilization 4 complete edition a while ago for something like $10, it's hundreds of hours worth of replay value with mods. if you're a fan you could probably spend 100 hours on the fall from heaven 2 mod alone. i don't know another hobby that can offer that much for the same price.

good deal, but it doesn't work for me. here is the error message i get when trying to add it to cart:

This item is currently unavailable for online purchase. The item was not added to your cart.

they probably noticed their mistake or it may be because they don't ship in my country.
