With the 360 and Wii it's facing much stronger competition than they have ever faced before. Last gen they had time to sell lots of units and get FFX, MGS 2 and GTA 3 out before Nintendo and MS even launced their consoles. The generation before that the Saturn cost too much and Nintendo made the mistake of using cartridges (other problems too but I'm not going to list them all). After the Saturn and the fact Sega was going broke I don't think the DC ever had a chance against the PS2.

Gears of War has sold almost 4 million copies and that's a lot for a system that's only been out a year and the Wii is almost selling as well as the PS2 did in Japan at this point in time in it's life. 1.6 million sold for Wii vs 1.8 million for PS2 over the same period of time. The PS3 on the other hand is only just selling faster than the DC did over the same period of time with the DC selling 614k and the PS3 668k.

Yes I wonder how many people here have learnt Japanese so they can play all of the games that only get released there. As far as I'm concerned anyone who plays games is a gamer, even if it's just tetris.

To get press exposure. Would it have been posted here if it had just been a regular screen? Probably but this will get more people talking about the game and any press is good press or whatever.
