Hello.

I bought the game during Steam's most recent sale. I installed it and started it up.

When I read through the stories and information about persons, locales, buildings and so on, often there's a response to what is written by, I assume, a developer.

For instance, when reading about the main character's back story, you get to know that he was and is often drinking and fighting and enjoying himself with girls and so on. That's fine and all, but then there's a person who writes/comments/replies and don't agree that they should tell the players about that because he's the hero of the game and as such, you shouldn't "turn him into that kind of person".

This is happening on the majority of letters and descriptions of people and places i'm receiving.

Is this correct? Why is there a need for this to be in the game? Shouldn't this be taken away prior to release?

Just seems weird and I had to ask if everyone is experiencing this.

For your information I have my game menu in swedish, so every description I read is translated into that language.

Thanks in advance.

So I searched through the box and found this Mini-HDMI to Hdmi cable (One end tiny and the other end normal sized). However, the cable only measures 2 metres, and I need about 4,5 to reach my monitor.

I guess there are solutions to this, and longer cables?

After VERY little searchwork, I saw this plastic thing covering an output. I pulled it out and sure enough, it's some sort of output, BUT it doesn't say what kind of output it is.

This output is directly into the gtx 580.

So I suppose I need some other kind of cables for this then, right?

Well, I'm not sure. To be honest, I might as well be plugging it into the motherboard.

What is this mini-HDMI-output you speak of?

I can't find it at the back of the computer.

Hello everyone. Today I unpacked my HDMI to HDMI cable and recently gave up trying to get it to work.
I've plugged the cable into the back of the computer where it says "HDMI" (simple enough) and tried ALL HDMI-in ports (is port the correct word?) on 2 different TVs, one being a LCD and the other a Plasma.

So far it has ONLY been showing "No signal" on the TV.

The Nvidia Panel doesn't identify another monitor, and thus won't let me click to make the TV the "priority screen".
I've tried right clicking on desktop and going into preferences and display-settings there to identify the monitor but that doesn't work either.
Tried restarting my computer, restarting the TV, doing it in different orders and so on. NO results.

My drivers for my GTX 580 are the latest.

RIG:
GTX 580
i7 2600K
ASUS p8Z68 v-pro
8 gig RAM

Sorry for any misspelling and whatnot.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys for your replies. Really, thanks!=)

I did forget to mention the HDD, which I already have included; a Western Digital 1 TB (I never come close to maxing out my current 512 GB, so why bother with a 2 TB heh). And from reviews, I think it's decent enough.

However, some thoughts regarding your answers:

First and foremost, regarding the GTX 580, I actually DO feel I have the money to spend. Not saying I like to waste money or something like that, I just want to go pretty much "all-in" and be more future proof.

That leads me to my next question, regarding the 2600K, which you all pretty much tell me to ignore, in favour of the 2500K. Now, seeing as I want to be more future proof, would it still be a wise decision to go with the i7 2600k if I want the gaming rig to last longer? Will it be a good gaming CPU for the future? Or I should simply skip it altogether?

LAST THING: The aftermarket CPU cooler. I know absolutely nothing of this. Could you guys do me the kind favour to point me to something that will be doable for my Rig?

Again - thanks alot!

Hello everyone. This will be the usual "should I grab this or that part and why" - thread.

Now my time has come to build a new gaming rig, but things are, I suck at knowing what to go with.
I do have one demand though, regarding what I should opt for - it MUST max Battlefield 3 at my monitor's max resolution of 1680 x 1050 (yup, that's my top). That means the pc have to be good, if not awesome.

THIS is what I'm thinking of opting for so far (with my non-existant skills):

* Case: Cooler Master HAF X Big Tower Black
* GPU : MSI Geforce GTX 580 1536 mb Physx - "Lightning" (will overclock)
* CPU: Intel Core i7 2600 K (Will overclock, obviously)
* RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHZ 8 GB CL 9
* PSU: Corsair HX 750W
* Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO, SOCKET-1155 (This is where I truly sucks)

Now, with THIS very setup, am I set for maxing BF3 out, or do I have to go bigger and better? I don't wan't ANY LAG, STUTTER - you name it. I simply want fluid great gameplay at BF3's best. Is there anyone with a similiar setup or someone with experince that can tell me that this will do the trick or point me to something that will?

Questions regarding my setup:
- Will the gtx 580 do it? Should I by any means go for the 3gb version or would that be waste of money at my resolution? Should I go higher, choosing the GTX 590 (I've heard of things such as microstuttering though, as well as simply wasting your money at something that isn't necessary...)
- Is the RAM sufficient, both in GB as well as brand etc?
- The PSU, should I go for 850W instead of 750W?
- MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION: Is the motherboard good for this build? Will it destroy my plans of overclocking etc?

THANKS in advance guys, I really need help here. Simply be honest, and I'm in your debt.:)

/Heavygunned (Such a silly name btw... sigh)

So, like I stated. The field where one types for a site to visit, for example www.gamespot.com disappears whenever I move my mousecursor from it.

If I move the mouse to where the searchfield is, it pops down again. This is VERY annoying.

It happened yesterday, when I accidentically hit a number of buttons at the very same time. I don't know which buttons I pressed, so I now turn to you guys

How do I change so that it always is visible?

I am using INternet Explorer. Thanks.

I must say I know nothing when it comes down to surroundsounds, and I do not know what to look for since I'm gonna have the sound mostly for games.

Got any good tips?

What I do know of is that IƤll have 5.1.

Thx in advance.
Heavy.
