There was also that other guy who walked into a store and started pleasuring himself in front of a stack of PS4s in full view of everyone. Some weird people out there.

Eddie, when people were complaining about Gamespot's lack of coverage of indie games in the comments section, I don't think this is what they meant...

As others have said, the reason Goat Simulator worked was because they provided a fun physics sandbox, THEN decided to make the protagonist a goat and go for the delibrately stupid thing.

It's not enough to make a crap game and then stick a silly gimmick on top and think you can use the delibrately stupid thing as an excuse.

@crxuchilbara:

My point was that the article has no meaningful content to it, not that it was a follow up to an earlier piece which is perfectly legitimate. It's a fluff piece in a website that is becoming increasingly bloated with filler content that either has nothing to do with games, or offers nothing new except a rehash of earlier articles.

It might have been an amusing anecdote about him smashing a disc on the radio, worthy of 3 lines at the bottom of a different article, but this follow up offers nothing except another headline to pad out the rest.

Anyway, this is just me complaining that Gamespot in my opinion is starting to become the MSN/Yahoo of games news sites, I know nothing will change as a result.

Is it just me or does the headline sound like something you'd read in The Onion? "Man who hates thing, says he still hates it a week later".

Also, does his opinion really warrant an article? His credentials as a gaming expert don't really hold up so I'm not sure why his opinion matters this much. In fact, the analysis he does provide is no more insightful than the hundreds of random people posting negative reviews on metacritic.

*sigh*

Yeah, I read that as "we considered screwing our customers over to save some time and money, but we decided not to because we respect them". That should be the minimum expected from a developer, not worthy of a pat on the back.

@Tamz: It's ok, if your boss or an Ubisoft representative has a gun trained on your head just blink twice and I'll call for help.

Joking aside, this article was the first in ages to genuinely make me laugh so thanks for that :)

I love this article. It just screams "I didn't want to write about this but because it's Ubisoft my boss told me I had to".

My estimation of Gamespot just rose a little after the recent wave of pointless filler content.

@squall_83:

Not necessarily. Assuming HL3 does definitely refer to Half-Life 3, it could still be early concepts and ideas, brain-dumped into a text file. No good if the project isn't actually greenlit by the powers that be.

This almost certainly wouldn't be the first time HL3 has been pitched, toyed around with and then dropped.

Then again, if they were ever to do HL3, now would be a good time with the Source 2 engine nearing official release. What better than a killer title from one of the most beloved franchises in history to promote adoption? That said, they're leaving it very late if that is the intention... hmmm perhaps not.

When I read the headline for this article I was reminded of Bruno's "exclusive interview" with Harrison Ford which turns out to just be Ford telling him to eff off as he steps out of a car or something. Of course, that was MEANT to be funny...
