For any one that's interested check out this new kickstarter nice retro game and has a good Lovecraft feel to it.

There's a demo as well to try and they already have a successful game under their belts

I did it before getting my first break, I really don't think it was key to getting me the job however I think it give me a good base , along with the voluntary work I added to my CV. After that I feel certs are good for backing up existing experience & knowledge

Plenty of Games to go at RPGs. Devinity Original Sin, Witcher I&II, Pillars of Eternity.. Skyrim if you have not played on console but then there's all the mods for it. If you like city builders you have to get Skylines loads of mods for that too..

starcraft II , Grey goo , Totasl War Series, company of Heros, Dawn of War for your RTS needs.

you have only got to look through steam or other vendors like GOG, Green man, humble Bumble.. all of these have great offers and sales.

as for the price just depends on what you want to spend. The latest I7 will stand you in good stead for a while & will also set you up for new titles like Witcher III..

However I5s offer good value and are more than capable of running any of the above games.

Forget to mention the ARPGs Torchlight II, lots of mods here, Path of Exile (Free) and of course diablo III

If you don't already have it I would work on getting some solid work experience, in the area you want to work in. Some times putting a large amount of certs on a CV without the experience to back them up can put employers off.

I would start with the likes of Company of Hero's 2, Rome II , Sins of The solar Empire (the latest one), Planetary Annhiliation, I know its early access but its coming on great now and there's an active community there. Wargame- red dragon, you will probally still find life in Dawn of War II as well although I would check on the steam forums though.

Ones to watch for

Grey Goo, by Petroglyph

Stronghold Crusader II

Etherium

Blizkrieg 3
