My coach in high school was a complete jackass (the worst in school history), and we made the playoffs several years ago. Several players going D-1 helped. I suppose I am talking through my experience, then.
Spurrier obviously isn't really an idiot. Many people hate him because of the things he says and does; just look at what he said above. You wouldn't understand because your team had nothing to do with his. Did you know he regularly made fun of UGA coaches and ran up the score when he could against the Dawgs? Did you know he said things like "You can't spell Citrus without the UT"? He's a great coach, I'll give him that, but the things he says shows everyone exactly how stupid he can be.
Well ok then he is a douchebag and your coach was a jackass, but neither of them were stupid. I dont really see how you are talking through experience if you havent coached... playing a coaching are two very different things. To coach you have to be very smart, it isnt like madden or some video game. You have to go one on one with many players and try to get inside each of their heads to help coach them into the best player they can become. You have to try and get inside the head of your opponent and figure out what they are doing so you can call your plays accordingly. and most of all you have to know, inside and out, the extremely complex game of football.
You can be a bad person and be a good coach, but you cant be a idiot.
You said yourself he isnt an idiot, so stop trying to defend the earlier statement that someone made that said he is an idiot. It was a very stupid comment to make and you sound stupid trying to defend that statement. (no offense)
