I've never heard bad things about AVG, and it's free.

Wow, AMD better have something up their sleeves or their hole is getting a whole lot deeper at Nehalem's release. (And the Phenoms were supposed to be that something though their performance is very much lacking for quad-cores as well as a brand new architecture.)

so the next upgrade would be the 280?gregdpw

I'd say so. With a 8800GTX, it would be a bit of a needless upgrade to go from 8800GTX to 9800GTX, even if only a bit over $200. I say if you want to upgrade from that, you might as well go full-circle and get either the GTX260 or the GTX280.

Hmm...Go for an AM2+ motherboard that supports Crossfire (SLi won't do if you want ATi stuff). AM2+ for future upgrades and it is hardly more expensive than standard AM2. A good cheap AM2 processor shouldn't be hard to come by since many Athlon 64 X2s are very low in price now, and since you'll have DDR2 memory (DDR3 is way over your budget), get some of that memory with the speed that is your motherboard's memory standard. (As in, if the memory standard is DDR2 800, get DDR2 800 memory.) Your video will be PCI-Express, so for your budget I'd get a GeForce 8600 (GT or GTS, whichever you have money enough for) You can transfer your hard drive though, so that's no worry. As for your power supply, just check around on it. It should say somewhere how many watts it can handle.

[QUOTE="cole_793"] I wouldnt recommend that. You couldnt add a 4850 unless you upgraded the PSu also since its only 180W. RAZZY_B

WTF kinda CPU does it need then?! and how much Watts does this need?

FFS im gettin pissed cuz first im no good at this stuff, and second theres too many options

Slimlines are general purpose for easy use. You shouldn't be looking at them at all if you want high-end gaming. The power supply needs to be much, much better to even power a fully-loaded machine with an HD4850. Not to mention there's no expansion slot for a graphics card and the card's probably bigger than the computer. Really, you should just build your own--it's cheaper and it'll actually be a gaming system. We've assisted many more in doing this already.

It's a Slimline--I don't even know if they have those kinds of expansion slots. Second, it's probably got a low-end power supply, since most people buying them are just looking for a simple home computer. Finally, I've seen Slimlines and you probably couldn't get one in there if you tried.

You should really get a Core 2 Duo instead, better value, and also so you can spend that money on a better video system. A 9500GS is not going to do well with top-of-the-line stuff and the money you can get back by getting a Core 2 Duo instead would allow you a much better gaming system. Get an E8400, I recommend, and you should at least be able to get a 9800GTX with the rest of the money, if not better. Plus, I personally find 6GB of RAM to be overkill. 4GB should do you alright.

Test Drive Le Mans (Dreamcast version, of course) used lighting and graphical techniques unmatched anywhere else at the time. I still look at the car models in that game and they still amaze me. The detail in the courses, the speed, the lighting that changes throughout the race, and rarely did it ever stutter at all. I think that particular game pushed the console, though it likely could've gone even farther I believe. It could've done great things, though Sega had dues to pay for their past mistakes and the pint-sized console didn't get a chance to prove itself.

Of course this is not really Halo 4, but it does raise some intresting questions. :P

Does this mean Fable 2 will have some sort of extensive character customization. It could just be a spoof as a joke, but either way its a wierd as hell pic and I guess we may see more of it at E3.

I knew he had to have some sort of musical talent outside of his so-serious life. Nice to see how he spends his free time.
