@bunchanumbers the game had a good sense of adventure and outstanding environments. that was probably the only time ive ever been impressed with somethign running on the wii. still, though, every time i looked at it, i would think of how much better if would have been on ps3 (cause lets face it, no way in hell that game would be on 360). anyway, aspects of it were kind of crap... which really shows the state of the JRPG today, when something with such glaring flaws is the best of the bunch. does every side quest need to be a find this collect these bunch of crap? or why cant the dude just use his stupid vision powers to start the quest instead of just telling you you found a quest item. the sidequests were lame.
@Foppe no, it's more like if nintendo followed every other publisher in the business we wouldn't see bayonetta 2 at all. and judging by the way they all decided not to publish the game... it leads me to think that on one even wanted to see bayonetta 2 at all. as someone who bought and beat the first one, i can tell you that i wouldnt have given the sequel a single thought. i dont need or want anymore bayonetta.
@SloganYams @DukeMagnum i sort of want to agree with you. im not a big bethesda fan either. if youve played one of those RPGs, youve basically played them all... but they did something or other with dishonored... dunno if one of their teams developed it or they just published it. anyway... theyre not the greatest devs in the world, but give me skyrim over pikmin 3 any day of the week.
as far as your comment below about ripping off that lord of the rings or the hobbit guy or whoever he is (dunno, not heavily into nerd shit), dragons and dwarves and elves and shit like that is pretty standard D&D fantasy style crap. i dont think any of it is really ripping off anything else, it's just par for the course.
@Madgnad @bunchanumbers no. nintendo's 3rd party support began to decline with the n64, it got far worse with the gamecube and was actually better with the wii (thanks to shovelware - if you don't count that, it was pathetic). sony's ps1 sold 100 million and was cheap to make games for, n64 sold 30 or 35 million and was very expensive to produce carts that were far more limited in storage capacity... why bother if you're a 3rd party dev? by the time the GC came around, sony dominated it again, and the last year of the gamecube's life was basically no games... a virtual desert.
@ChaosIsaac are you kidding me? you can play a straight port of a 20 year old SNES game and an HD remake of a 10 year old gamecube game... all you need to do is plunk down that $300. what are you waiting for?
@gamer6130 they do need 3rd party though. all those games are going to sell a helluva lot less than they did on the wii because they have like 3.5 million people to buy them instead of 100 million. i predected wii u sales to be 40 million +/- 3 million in 5 years... but the way things are going... i mean it just looks horrible.
@SloganYams if everybody followed nintendo's example of how to make a video game, the industry may as well not have evolved since 1998. nintnedo makes levels. bethesda makes worlds. it's completely different.
this is just one of nintendo's many problems, though. they have had a terrible reputation problem over the years with being seen as kiddie. i guess it all ties together, but they've just got a lot of problems right now. they have no games, they're barely getting any first party games, let alone multiplats, the games they do get barely look any better than they do on 7 year old hardware, the wasted their 1 year headstart on Sony and MS, they've got too much tech cost tied up in a tablet nobody really wants, the name of the thing just sounds stupid... the wii u is in a world of trouble right now. even i, who was thinking about getting one next year, have suspended any plans indefinitely.
