That comment was slightly off point before but I do think games can be an addiction. I have given up smoking, not a chance in hell I would give up gaming. If its and addiction I'm happy to be diagnosed as that!

I am getting really fed up with people blaming games for violent acts and everything that is wrong in the youth of today. Computer games are simply the most popular form of media at the moment to point the finger at. Only a few years ago everyone blamed rap music for all the problems, before that it was violent movies. You have good kids and bad kids, crazy kids and sane kids, can you really blame computer games for everything they do. Take the boy who killed his parents because they took away Halo, what if we replace Halo with the board game Monopoly? Would people start to think that board games are influencing the youth? No, because out of the majority of people who play board games are fine and it would be a one off incident. This applies to anything. With so many people driving cars does the fact that there are crashes mean that it is unhealthy and a big risk to let people drive? Or air travel, riding a bike or motorbike? In my eyes they exploit tragic incidents such as the boy that killed his parents as a way to prove a point that games are bad. Out of the millions of people playing games without any impact on their normal or social life, I think it is safe to say that bad things that happen are down to the individual and not games/music/movies.
