Still whistling the same old tune I see amulbocus. Interesting ;) I'm not going to address the points you've made because it's been done many times already, but I am a little confused by the end of your post. Can you explain what you mean by your GOW1/3 comments? Thanks.

"Anyway sony's E3 is just around the corner and i'm looking forward to God of War III i think that will be impressive" Yep, as gamers, let's just look forward to E3, for the latest on all the consoles and PC. :)

MTMind2 wrote: "good posts dr_yassem" Thanks for that (although it would be nice if people can get my name right. ;)) "not sure about mgs4 on 360, but it could be possible like you said. i think its unlikely to happen, but it would be good to see on the 360." Fair point, although I'm not saying it it comes to the console. We'll see. Also, ignore the fact that your posts are being voted down. You're right that it's mostly one person, but be careful what you say here, calling someone a fanboy is about as far as you can go, any more personal and you could get in trouble if you're reported. Besides, if anything, I find hidden posts actually stand out more, and therefore I always read them!!! And I know I'm not the only one who does this; fastesttruck wrote: "The hidden ones make me want to read them more TBH." That's probably the reason you noticed my posts in the first place, so in fact, you should be thanking that person for unintentionally making all your posts stand out. :D Oh and, welcome to the forum MTMind2. :)

Nope, we can agree that MGS4 has the best cutscenes, which is not suprising given the developers and the hardware they're working with, but for ingame graphics, it's nothing beyond what we've seen elsewhere. :)

Regarding multiple disks, it's not something devs specifically like or dislike, that's just an amusing joke within MGS4 with reference to the past, it's not a statement of bad feelings towards multiple disks, so I wouldn't say it's something they DON'T LIKE, amulbocus..... (;)) And data transfer is simply that, data transfer, whether it's coming from DVD into RAM, Blu-ray into RAM, the HDD into RAM, over a LAN into RAM or even over the internet into RAM. As long as the data is in RAM .

Yes, correct, I should have said install, not load, but you know what I meant and hence the point is exactly the same. Regarding the framerate, you don't know exactly how it's helping MGS4. DMC4 has a compulsary install on the PS3 version and not in the 360 version, and yet it made no difference to the framerate at all, it only effected the load times. So claiming framerates would suffer on a 360 version is unfounded. A HDD install option on the 360 has nothing to do with how much data DVD holds, a HDD is faster than any optical drive, therefore data is copied to the PS3's HDD mostly to improve load times, this is not necessary on the 360 because the DVD drive is faster than the Blu-ray drive. However, if the 360's HDD was used in this way, then load times would also improve on the console. But again, this has very little to do with framerate. The biggest factors effecting framerate in any game is the GPU, CPU and RAM, not the storage medium. As for playing the game, unfortunately not yet. One of my best friends is a huge gaming fanatic, and has every main console from the last 3 generations. I barely saw him once GTA4 was released, and I haven't seen him at all since MGS4 was released (he's too busy playing the game :D). But I'll get my chance soon. :) [EDIT: OK, I squeezed this reply in during my lunch break, back to work now...]

Actually amublocus, I'm not going to 'come back with more' regarding Blu-ray vs DVD, because I think we've both fully expressed our opinions on that matter already, where all we can do now is to go round and round and round in circles repeating ourselves :) Still, it's interesting that the person who argued about DVD here saying it's ridiculous having to change disks at exactly the same moment PS3 gamers are waiting for the next act to load in MGS4, claims he got up to do something else instead during those moments. So.... it's ok to sit down and wait about 3 minutes for an act to load, it's ok to get up to do something else whilst waiting for an act to load, but it's not ok to get up to do something else like changing disks for the next act. Hmmmm. But of course, this is all just speculation about MGS4, since at this moment, no 360 version has been announced, so in that sense, it doesn't exist (but if it is announced, expect it to be just as good as the PS3 version). We'll see what happens in future. Right now, I'm just pleased MGS4 has met (if not exceeded) your expectations. :)

Hi amulboces (see, I can spell your name wrong too ;)), you're right, DVD is old technology, no-one can deny that, but old doesn't automatically mean bad, just as new doesn't automatically mean good. If we'd listened to certain individuals before either console was launched, then DVD should have been a disaster for the 360. As it is, it has proven itself to be more than sufficient for this generation of games consoles, not perfect, but sufficient. Regarding changing it to "games", both are games consoles, and this topic is about games, and we were talking about the use of Blu-ray and DVD for games (MGS4 in particular) not movies, therefore I don't see why it's an issue. Yes Blu-ray is better for movies, an undeniable truth, but we are not talking about movies here, we're talking about games. And as for saying DVD is better, I didn't say that at all, I said neither format is superior. The DVD drive in the 360 is faster, whereas Blu-ray has more capacity , those are the main advantages of each. So regarding the DVD speed in the PS3, if you look at the data transfer speeds I showed in an earlier post, you could estimate that the PS3 drive is about as fast as the average speed of DVD 8x. Not surprising then that this is the actual figure quoted by Sony in their officially PS3 specs; Official PS3 specs "BD 2x (BD-ROM) (DVD-ROM) CD 24x (CD-ROM)" Nothing ridiculous about those figures. ;) So yes, the Blu-ray drive in the PS3 is slower, Blu-ray 2x has about the same transfer speed as DVD 8x on average, where it is also rated as DVD 8x in the official specs (and CD-ROM 24x). Hence to restate the point I raised earlier, if the Blu-ray drive in the PS3 was as fast as the DVD drive in the 360 (i.e. Blu-ray 3x or more), then yes, it would be the superior format for games. Instead, both have their advantages and disadvantages for this gen.

"Dr Yassem you have to call it a a day on this one, and accept blu ray is the superior format, all things considered" If the speed of the Blu-ray drive in the PS3 was equal to or faster than the DVD drive in the 360, then clearly yes, but as this is not the case, neither is the superior format for games....all things considered. Still, it's great you're enjoying MGS4. (*Notices something on the horizon...Waits for the tidal wave of thumbs down votes to arrive* ;))
