Vista is an awful operating system for games. I've read my way around the internet from the users, not the businesses, and come to two conclusions: 1: Vista is a beta in a way. Microsoft has had the same desktop look for 13 years now, and they desperately needed a change. Not so much as Apple did with the TERRIBLE OS 10.0 beta, but if you look from then, it only got better. I think Microsoft is using Vista to balance the right medium between casual use, gaming, and office in Windows 7, which brings me to my second point. 2: Vista is awful for games. Don't even think of denying it. DirectX10 doesn't do much if your system can't even hope to support it. If you want to game, play it on XP, that's what I do. Not just for speed, but because some games (To name MGS2 Substance, which has a sound layer [IdirectX] which none of the Vista audio drivers support) literally cannot be played for example. HOWEVER. Vista is a great business OS, and for once has made a good operating system that can really compete with Apple in the terms of the office. Font size is great at high resolutions (1920-1280 is beautiful on my laptop) and the faster read/write times now have made Vista a strong office computer (unfortunately, as long as the office hardware is compatible)
ATI makes cheaper cards that preform just as well/lesser than nVidia, while nVidia makes the top of the line cards, but with a top of the line price. Hard contest, if you ask me. Ah well, I have a Macbook, so it's not like I have a choice :-P.
Intel/Nvidia>AMD/ATI for life. Unfortunately, my Macbook pro is good on graphics but a little cut short on its CPU to do some serious gaming, especially when I fire up Vista. Here's hoping the next generation of Macs has a 3.0 GHz processor.
This game is like the cute Gears of War. All of my friends like it...except me! Either way, it's a great game, even if I don't like it, I know a lot of people do.
Valve are the people who essentially embody what an amazing, creative company is. I can't wait to see what the designers of Portal are up to next, and I know I'm not the only one!
