These lists are always stupid. You can't rank music. I'm not a big fan of anything in the top 10 on this list and I should add I literally can't listen to Bob Dylan. I think his music is absolutely aweful. We're talking bottom of the barrel (although he might be one of the greatest lyric writers ever). Does this make me wrong? Does it mean I have awful taste in music? No. Like everyone else, I have my own taste in music which is the beauty of it. It's unique to each individual. Some songs are incredibly meaningful to some people, and meaningless to others. There is no right or wrong; greatest or worst. There is just music.

I'm not surprised about IGN giving a game like U3 a 10 out of 10, since they are one of the few sites that constantly give out 10s to games these days, so that's to be expected. It's too bad that I'm not a PS3 owner. I would have gotten this game when I could...

Metamania

ummm...You do realize the only console games they have given 10s to are Ocarina of Time (GS did too), Soul Calibur (GS did too), Chrono Trigger, GTA 4 (GS did too), MGS 4 (GS did too), Super Mario Galaxy 2, and now UC3 right? Pretty small number and elite company if you ask me.

At home, I think. But I don't really remember. His death was just as forgettable as his music was to me.King_Creole_35

How can it be the best ever made if it's the worst GTA game ever made in the modern era (aka not counting GTA 1 and 2)?

Idk...it's not for everyone (even if you love the RPGs of the 90s). I played and loved all of the Final Fantasies, Legend of Dragoon, Breath of Fire, Chrono Cross, Grandia, etc etc and for SOME REASON (I am actually still confused about), I spent about 15-20 hours in Chrono Trigger and put it down. It just strangely lost my interest. I don't see the charm and lovable characters everyone is talking about. I've tried to go back and play it but it's just not that appealing. Perhaps one day I will be able to appreciate this game.

It is certainly not for everyone, but the bottom line is that you're missing out on the greatest RPG of all time. But it happens though...it's like with music. You try to listen to a new band and you don't know why everyone else likes it, but it doesn't grab you like it did for everyone else and leave it alone. But when you come back to that band later and listen to them, something about them will finally get you and you can's stop listening to them from that point on. I'm willing to bet that the same thing will happen to you with Chrono Trigger. You may not like it now, but believe me, you'll play it again when you are ready and able to and come to realize..."Holy s***, I should have not missed out on this after all!" :)

Idk...regardless of if I end up liking it someday or not, it's certainly never going to be the best RPG of all time to me. To have that distinction, it must be able to grab you from the get-go. Honestly, I doubt I will ever consider it better than something like Dark Cloud 2 (which is obviously not even part of the great 90s RPGs). Same reason I don't really like the Beatles (though I repect their songwriting and most of Lennon's work). But that's a discussion for another day...

Random thought though...this thing has happened has happened to me before. First playthrough, I absolutely hated FF8. When I came back and played it three years later, I enjoyed it a lot (Same logic though...I don't rank it ridiculously high. Very good game though). This is about the extent that my view can possibly change about Trigger.

That's funny. On my first playthrough, I beat it in about that time.

I guess I'm slow. I must say though, I do tend to take a lot of time doing pointless things such as making sure I talk to everyone in the towns, searching off the path to find random things, etc etc. Also...I don't even know how much time I spent in the market/festival area thing.

Most of the old Final Fantasies didn't have pointless sidequests (now they do with the monster hunter BS). You used to get the best weapons and limit breaks by doing the sidequests. Breath of Fire had some important ones as well (ex faerie village gives you access to new weaps, cheaper stuff, etc). Come to think of it, most old games gave you pretty sweet rewards for completing sidequests. Nowadays...not so much.

Square-Enix at least published Nier, Just Cause 2, Legend of Kage 2, and the Space Invaders Extreme games. Aside from that, they haven't contributed much good at all to the gaming world ever since that damnable merger.

pills4louis

Hey how good is Nier? I was wondering if I should pick it up. I'm looking for a bit of a throwback RPG that I can just have some nostalgic fun with. The reviews seem pretty split on Nier.
