Not only do I dislike rap, but I can't even respect it as a genre. Rappers can't sing and they can't play instruments (at least the vast majority can't).

That's right, and that's what disgusts me about hip-hop haters. As I've said before, I grew up in a pretty bad neighberhood. My parents could barely speak English, and my school had zero funding.

Hey Eddie-Vedder, do you know how much I would've liked to learn an instrument growing up? But do you think our school had anything even resembling a music program? I wish... All we had - and all rap artists have - was/is our voice. That's the best we could do.

Look, I don't want to "convince" you to like rap music; that's impossible. However, I'd just like you to respect why me and others like me enjoy it. I mean, I dislike most metal and rock music, but I can certainly appreciate the musical prowess certain artists have.

rock, u have a singer, a guitarist, drummer, all that stuff,

rap, u have the rapper, the producer, etc.
