I love FFXI.  It's really great for long term entertainment.  I've been playing it for at least 2 years.  They have lots of updates and events.  The most recent expansion pack introduced a lot of new things and jobs...as well as a bunch of new things coming up (monster arena, chocobo races...sweet stuff).

However, if you're like me and only play for an hour or two a few days a week...WoW might be the game for you.  It's a lot simpler and you can solo 100x easier than you can in FFXI.  However, the graphics annoy me (I only played WoW for a bit) and I hated how every character looked butt-ugly.

I left FFXI for a bit to play City of Heroes...which is a LOT of fun as well...also great for the casual gamer.  But I came back to FFXI because it has the most substance and the fact that you can change jobs with your main character.  In WoW or CoH you need to make a new character for each job type you play (which additional characters are free in those two games, bot not in FFXI...) so you don't end up making lasting friends if you're like me and change jobs a lot.

FFXI is a superb game for anyone looking for a long-term gaming experience and a highly interactive gaming community.  WoW is nice for a quick MMO fix that'll entertain you for some months.

That's a couple things to think about.  I'm open for questions.
