stores that you can trade your console in are most likely sold out because they didnt get alot of them in the first shipment, my gamestop got 4, luckily i was the fourth person, but major stores, target or bestbuy etc, i went into target and they had 4 in the glass case.
you dont lose much credit for trading in the console without the hard drive, i traded in my premium without the hard drive and got 200 because of the coupon they had, i transferred game saves and themes etc with a memory unit and i took my hard drive to gamestop and got $25 for it. now without the coupon you get $190, around there.
its not dramatically different, i got mine on sunday, one reason some MAY talk about it is because some stores only got 1-4 systems, ie gamestop eb games, but i went to target yesterday and inside the glass case were 4 elites and a bunch of hd-dvd drives.its not worth getting if you dont have a tv that can support hdmi because all youd need is the larger hard drive, if that.
some games are locked to the console id, depends on the game, for example viva pinata would be corrupt. i dont know what youve playedBmXGrL389
are most games non-transferable or just a few, cuz i own, i think 16 games. I guess i can get the free cable from ms, although they're cheap **** **** who will probaly charge some **** fee.
only a few, test drive would be corrupt as well i dont think youd have any real problems
