I think it's safe to say that just about all of us have our gripes with how overly casual friendly the Wii has become. We're seeing more and more party games and brain training games, and less and less Zelda type games, shooters, fighters, etc. While that is a smart business move for Nintendo, it's a horrible thing for gamers to have to deal with.
However, most of us will also say that the DS is almost the opposite of the Wii. Odd, right? Even though both platforms have similar philosophies, the way they have been executed are not really similar at all. Part of that may be because the DS was the platform to really boost the casual target Nintendo has been looking at, but still, the DS has managed to find a perfect balance in the industry. Nintendo, along with numerous third parties, have produced fantastic hardcore games for the console such as Metroid Prime: Hunters, New Super Mario Bros., Meteos, LostMagic, Final Fantasy III, Mario Kart DS, Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Lunar Knights, and much more. Meanwhile, the DS still manages to attract the casual gamers with innovative titles like Nintendogs, Brain Age, Cooking Mama, and more... while at the same time not being overly flooded into the market.
So, with all of this in mind, do you think that (in your opinion) the DS is nearly as casual based as the Wii? Or, do you think that it is maybe the opposite?
