@spectral: When Nintendo was competitive in performance, they made stupid decisions like going cartridges on N64 when things had transitioned to discs. Then they went with the smaller capacity discs for Gamecube. They also had the weird controllers as well. Their systems were not welcoming to third party developers and that is a big part of the reason they fell behind at the time. They have a strange way of doing things and like to be different. Their systems cater to Nintendo first and foremost.
Nintendo certainly knows how to make gimmicks appeal to casuals. However, they lost many hardcore gamers once the Wii dropped, including me. Most Nintendo games no longer do anything for me. I only get excited for bigger games like Zelda, which are few and far between these days. It is what it is. They have found great success with casuals and no longer deliver what I desire. I rarely play Nintendo games, just like I don't play mobile games.
Nah. Switch is dated trash hardware. It was bad at launch and much worse now. 30fps with severe drops... yikes! 30fps was never good, even when steady. Nintendo is good at game design, not hardware. Imagine how much better a Zelda game would be if it was targeting a regular console spec like PS5 or XSX.
Come back in a new way? What trend are they going to chase this time? What new way are they going to try and milk customers with micro-transactions while ruining the integrity of the game design? Andrew Wilson is a straight up piece of shit. He doesn't care about the quality of the games EA ships and is always trying to hype and spin things.
@bryanweary: I don't think that many were looking forward to it. It always looked rough and a game that was in development trouble. Most who like Arkane as a studio were wondering WTF they were doing making the game in the first place.
