last console I bought was a ps2 when it went on the cheap and a PSP 3k for a benjamen right before the Vita came out. Other than my PSP, I play PC games exclusively now and will spend money on a better video card rather than hardware I can't upgrade to play the latest and greatest titles.
This is all about more money for the shareholders as usual. They want to do the least amount of work possible for the poorest quality product possible to maximize their profits. See the Madden series for proof and that's what everyone wants in on. Game devs will always be around and there will always be someone willing to publish it if its good enough. These corporate people just want more free money instead of actually being responsible and putting together a decent product. The better the game or the history of the game maker, the more likely it is to sell it new. You don't see Blizzard crying about the used game markets. You don't see Midway crying over Mortal Kombat being sold used. Make a good game and people will buy it new.
this means that the graphics are better than the game(heard the MP was dedcent though). Anyways, the single player stinks to high heaven. Don't be woooed by the 'system requirements' into throwing your money away.
