yeah I can usually get a 300 turn cultural victory with most any civ. Obviously it depends on the map and AI but around 300 is doable in most standard settings.

I never really started going for CV's until I got G&K, and I can't really remember back to my CV's with vanilla.

"my startegy" encompasses a lot so thats hard question to answer without specifics, but the most important things to remember is..

1) get Archaeology ASAP: opens up freedom and unlocks museum. it's so important to a CV that i usually Oxford it.

2) work specialist early to start generating Great Artist. That means Drama is priority, and also the hanging gardens is a HUGE boost if you can get it because it'll make up for the lost food and more. (in fact all growth wonders are hugely beneficial)

3) Setting up your "never ending" golden age: this is why you need to finish Freedom ASAP so you can get double golden age times, then you have to save up enough great artist to keep yourself in a continuous golden age. (just in case you didn't know culture output is increased during a golden age)

Is that a joke? culture victory is easy in G&K without religion. I know it's the only victory condition I ever play for.

Hey dudes, EA the coolest publisher in town, really wants you to 'get down' with SIMCITY (2013), if you want to peeve mom and dad you'll love features like LEADER BOARDS, and if you're really looking for a trip how about some CONSTANT INTERNET CONNECTION.

Man just talking about a rad game like SIMCITY (2013) make me want to kick back with some hardcore pizza and chill the whole weekend. But what's that EA says? They have microtransactions that can ENLARGE PLOT FOR CUSTOM CITY DEVELOPMENT all for the low price of $19.99 USD - REGIONAL TAX MAY APPLY?

Out of this world!

Dudes I don't know about you, but it looks like i'll be chilling with EA for sometime yet, are you guys down? If so head to ORIGIN.COM/LOGIN OR A LOCAL VIDEO GAME RETAILER IN YOUR AREA CHECK FOR LOCAL LISTINGS and join the party.

I'll be waiting!

You guys are just playing Skyrim for different reasons from what was meant. Skyrim is a sandbox RPG, and a damn good one at that.

Games like the Witcher, another game I love btw, are narrative RPG's. Sounds like that's your cup of tea.

I think this is a bad idea, sandbox RPG's are successful because of the flexibility of character design, for example in skyrim I can make a mage/thief, or a ranger/barbarian and i can give he/she any personality (and is thus reflected on the quest I take or the manner in how I respond to NPC). This is the power of sandbox RPG's and it's what all the best ones (Skyrim) do right.

The problem with making The Witcher a sandbox RPG is that Geralt is already a pre-defined character, he is opened to some diversity yes but he's still rooted in some concrete character definitions.

Just to give you an example of this, many moons ago when i was playing Marrowind I one time made a character who was a "wheeler dealer" I literally dumped everything into the personal skills and merchant skills and just went town to town building up a fortune. Was it the optimal way to play the game? of course not, but I was able to do it none the less and have an enjoyable time doing it.

Can you imagine Geralt walking around pawning off items, looking all bad ass lol. It really wouldnt work.

I'm all for another Witcher, it's probably one of my favorite series but its a narrative RPG, not a sandbox.
